That hip hop thread...

El-P's beats were something else, man. He's definitely my top 3 DJ with lots of great guest appearances. I don't mind Run The Jewels, but that style is not the same.

The whole era of Company Flow followed by numerous solid Def Jux releases is nostalgic to me. Aesop's old stuff is timeless, too.

In 1994 Biggie put out his song “Juicy”. The year before, a rapper from Mississippi known as Notorious B1 put out a song called “Big Daddy”.

There are obvious similarities between the two songs, and the fact that Biggie released “Juicy” a year after “Big Daddy” was released made people believe Biggie ripped off Notorious B1’s hit.

One of the producers for “Juicy” was P. Diddy, who people believe stole “Big Daddy” from Notorious B1. Diddy wanted Biggie to acknowledge “Big Daddy” and its creator, so in the song, Biggie says:
Now honeys play me close like butter play toast
From the Mississippi down to the East Coast

Notorious B1 spoke about the situation, in which he said, "I want everybody to know the truth. I was the original Notorious Big One."

Forgotten Not-On-Streaming Remix of Dead Disnee off of El-P's Fandam Plus. Everyone killed it (especially Cage) but Vast Aire's verse comes in so awkwardly compared to everyone else bouncing their verses off each other.

I thought I was going to get an easy answer as to why Lupe fell the fuck off. But good god. I am beyond felted. The more I'm looking into this nigga, I'm starting to think he has been a lolcow for longer than I thought.

Yes it looks like Atlantic fucked him over at first glance. Except you realize a cruel truth. This motherfucker wasn't even on his first or second record deal. ATLANTIC WAS HIS THIRD.

Imagine niggas protesting outside of your labels offices demanding LASERS gets released. The album releases and it's basically Lupe telling fuck You to the label and fans simultaneously.

Honestly, the lasers era was a shit show from start to finish. Words I NEVER SAID might as well be considered one of his biggest regrets. From looping the first verse of this song for over half an hour and getting escorted out the building to a interaction with BILL O'REILLY ON FOX NEWS?

Is that all that happened with Lupe? Fuck no. That's not even scratching the surface

So why did Lupe Fiasco's music start going off the rails after The Cool? Well because the fuckin prick decided to play dress up and pretend to be a rockstar with a shitty foreign accent. Honestly there is so much to this guy. Might Actually need to make a lengthy post on how he fucked up his career
