Those “vote blue no matter who” assholes are going to be out in force. I knew going into this that the JD Vance fans will overestimate his appeal, and that will ruffle people not ready to talk about this. Hopefully it got some people thinking. Vance cannot grab the moderates in the manner needed to win 2028, yet. He’d have to do some magic sparkle dog shit, at this point. We’ve got about a year & a half until the campaigning will go into overdrive, & right now is the lay up. The GOP needs to take this lay up seriously, because “vote blue no matter who” assholes are so angry & insane, but they especially vote together. There’s no consensus on the Right, at this moment, & if all hopes are on Vance, well, I’ll just say that we’ll see Vance jokes turning into the Jeb jokes of old.

My folks are not "vote blue no matter who", they are moderately Republican and they HATE Trump. I believe they held their nose and voted for him in 2016, but they definitely didn't in 2020 or 2024, yet they both have independently told me that they like JD. They read his book, watched his movie and everything. I haven't talked to them about it in a while, but I'm pretty sure they'd still vote for Vance over any of the likely Dems. I realize this is just a single anecdote, but I doubt they're the only ones.
