It absorbs through the highly vascular area around your rectum, it's nothing to do with the motility of your digestive tract or ability of your small intestine to absorb medications. It's a great option for many types of medications, especially if people have nausea or vomiting.
Surgeon used paracetamol suppositories on both my toddlers when they had their tonsillectomies. They placed them while still in recovery. At 2 and 3 years old it would be almost impossible to get a kid to swallow even liquid paracetamol after a tonsillectomy.

aster posted a tiktok today with a bunch of health updates. she is going to be sent to a skilled nursing facility tomorrow. she says she is nervous because she doesn't want to get neglected. they are taking her off antibiotics and she predicts that her body will react poorly and she will end up back in the hospital. her post-op issues are still going on. fistula is doing better and her urostomy is functioning okay, but she is still having bowel leakage from her small intestine due to a perforation. they changed her pain meds to oral and it's been difficult because she claims oral intake is hard for her due to vomiting and decreased appetite. she's on TPN to increase her albumin levels but they're still too low to operate.

she will at bare minimum need another exploratory and washout. if they can't fix her bowel she's looking at resection and ileostomy, temporary or permanent. i don't blame them for leaving her open- intubating her alone would be a massive risk, let alone fixing whatever the fuck is going on inside of her right now with her entire body already being in shambles.

The pooner who, despite doing a more reasonable job of not appearing outwardly too loco, was planning to chop off her legs 🥁 has successfully chopped off her legs (no, not that psycho "artist" pooner, no originality even in the extremities, lol)
-"for EDS and fibro reasons".

And then pretty much immediately stopped posting. Hmmm!

She’s likely hoping to get extra long peg legs to be taller. I bet that’s why she did this.

I know a person who had doctor-supervised ket infusions and it instantly put their chronic treatment-resistant depression into remission for 6 whole months. Gave them the breathing room they needed to crawl out of the hole they were in and after another year of hard work they are now depression-free for 3 years and counting. Could they have recovered without it? Maybe, but god damn it was shocking to see the transformation it made. Like magic.

Meanwhile I know someone else who lays around the house all day playing vidya, waited on hand and foot by her hardworking husband, who snorts ket nonstop and yet has horrible depression (shocking). So it's definitely not enough on its own to overcome a shit lifestyle and workshy mentality.
A factor a lot of people don't consider in outcomes is a patient being motivated AND having an internal locus of control. If you're the kind of person who is dedicated to their goals and believes that they have agency over their life, then you're more likely to have fruitful outcomes. I'm not saying the K did nothing, but you can tell just by what you wrote here that your friend meets both of those factors - it would be extremely unlikely for them to accomplish that without both, even if K was what tipped the scales.

Also a big reason why the munchies never go anywhere positive in life - they all lack both.

The idea that you'd be dosed with it in agony after being in a car crash or whatever is horrendous.
I’m sure @Jimmy Dean Bowl knows this stuff better, but I think it’s more used as part of a protocol to put you under, not for purely twilight sedation in adults. At least that’s how they do it where I live, bongs and burgers might have less boring anesthesiologists.

Ime there is a brief antidepressive effect from intravenous ket, about a week or so, in some patients, but it’s not always a blessing. A colleague had a patient who made a serious suicide attempt and had to be anesthetized for surgery with ketamine part of the protocol. After wake-up the patient had no clinical presentation of depression at all for over a week, and my colleague was on the verge of releasing him when he pretty much just crashed out again, going damn near catatonic with melancholic depressive symptoms.

I don’t really think ket is going to pan out as a feasible treatment for depression for most people, and as stated before itt, you have to work on depressive symptoms to get better. Unless it’s bipolar depression, because then you should prolly take your damn meds, in addition to working on getting better.

It’s crazy that Aster is still munching for a wheelchair and other made up disabilities when she is now really for real sick for the rest of her life. Does she not get this? Or is she loving the attention so much that she can’t wait to move on to the next munch-induced dopamine hit?

Also, she looks fatter than ever. And I feel really bad for her mom.

In our shop it was used predominantly for induction in A&E for major trauma, as it induces dissociative anaesthesia that doesn't tank blood pressure or cause respiratory depression the way propofol does. Very handy when your patient is hosing like a motherfucker.
In theatre (the OR for our American frens) it was more used for induction for paeds for short procedures. It's also become more popular peri and postop for abdo stuff like bowel resecetions. Part of the whole strong opioid sparing strategy.
I've been out of the game for while though so things could be totally different now.

Lmao Aster, FAFO bish.

More ketamine sperging: if it isn't a 'therapeutic infusion' for depression/anxiety/pain control, it's emergent in Burgerland. Or surgical anesthetic.

E.g: 80 yr old grandma gets run over by a bus and needs a field amputation but you can't risk respiratory depression so you slam 200mg IM to k-hole her (if you can verify she doesn't have high bp first it helps) then cut her arm off so you can get her in a tourniquet for the heli. Once she's somewhere you can adequately support rapid CNS depression then and only then can she get Fent.

Did some SAR training in a previous lifetime and ket beats methoxyfluorane all day long. Especially for field trauma.

The thing that gets me about Aster, Kat Loosemore and other ‘sick’ gainers too. Imagine the gall to waddle into a hospital, 300lb death fat style and claim you need tube feeding/tpn, that you’re literally wasting away. Looking at the doctors and nurses through pisshole slaton style eyes, half covered by the plumpness of your cheeks and saying “I cannot feed myself” it genuinely boggles the mind

I have a personal Munchie cow who is currently angling for some sort of GI diagnosis (after multiple past fake sicknesses going back at least 15 years) - she's been to all sorts of different specialists and had at least 2 hospitalizations from complaints of intractable abdominal pain and inability to eat. Saw a photo taken of her the other day, and she's up to at least 200 lbs by my estimate. I'm dying to send her an anonymous DM that says "Either commit to the bit or pick a more believable LARP, because you're an embarrassment to the Munchie community" but she has a family member who would know it was me 🫥

Just some smaller Aster updates and posts from her mom.

She has allegedly lost 30 pounds in two and a half months, which considering she talks regularly about "not eating enough" and "throwing up a lot" is a little contradictory. But she's probably also not moving whatsoever.

Her mom specifically mentioned it's her protein they're trying to increase, which I believe more than Aster saying she's "malnourished."

Aster starts dreaming about getting a new wheelchair and mentions her "orthostatic intolerance" despite the fact that there is no way she's getting out of bed for much of anything.

And then magically decides oh she NEEDS to replace her wheelchair, especially for when she's out of the hospital! Note: she has not even had the corrective surgery she needs yet and doesn't have a date set for it.

An update from Monique talking about her experience visiting Aster, seems to be trying to make the most of it. She's a bit erratic but I can tell she really loves her.

These are little things I thought were funny. She's so dramatic about the Medicaid change which she clearly didn't read details beyond the headlines of "people will have new work requirements to be eligible." People who have health conditions preventing them from working will still be covered, it's going to be a bit more annoying for some people but they're still covered as long as they have documentation, which Aster does have. But she loves the drama and wants to use this for her e-begging.

She also reblogged this which is ironic.

I’m sorry but why do they ALWAYS have a team ? team that is on call or what ?! They just have random people working there assigned to the case, they aren’t YOUR team , they just do their job, and don’t want people to die… it’s just odd because they seem to think it’s something cool to have …

I’ll take my puzzle pieces now

This is a classic Munchie prize up there with toobs, custom wheelchairs and service dogs. A "team" of dedicated doctors fussing over you validates the notion that you're really sick, probably with something complex and mysterious. Plus it guarantees you lots of attention, or at least the appearance of it.

disAster is over here looking like Terry Schiavo in that screen grab, which might be her next stop if things don't turn around.

I was trying to remember who Aster reminded me of in that photo, and yeah, that's exactly it. Only difference is the skin tone, really.

(By the way, it still needs some major formatting work and minor content editing, but the first beta version of the Ace thread OP is now in Prospering Grounds.)

Aster’s mom is highly suspicious to me. She’s camping out at the hospital parking lot, sleeping in her car with her Downs child?? Refusing to get a hotel simply because that would be ‘too far’ from Aster? I get that hotels are expensive, but it would be a cinch for Aster to crowdfund the money. Monique could also post a crowdfund on her Facebook and I’m sure people would donate.

Monique is fucked up in ways I don’t think we’ve fully explored in the thread yet. I think she’s a lot more harmful than just a goofy hippy chick. While I don’t believe a lot about what Aster says about her, there’s a few concerning things that Aster has let slip, but it a way that makes me think they’re plausible because Aster doesn’t seem to realize how fucked up they are.

Doesn’t sound like she’s had a job. At one point there was mention that she was working on finishing up a masters? degree I believe. Relies on her own mother for money and I believe housing. Let’s Sunny stay overnight with Aster - knowing your daughter is deeply dysfunctional, why in the world would you let your Downs child stay over at her place?

During Aster’s domestic violence shelter saga, she mentions her mom doesn’t have Sunny in school and possibly no medical appointments. Aster also seemed to believe that there was a big chance Sunny would be taken away from Monique if CPS was able to identify who Aster really is (Aster evidently gave a fake name to avoid that) and that Monique would disappear and move away with him to avoid that - why flee CPS if you have nothing to hide? Sunny’s father is evidently quite a bit younger than Monique, barely legal. I believe 19 at the time Sunny was born? There’s something screwed up going on with her.

I stumbled across this oddball through the YouTube algorithm. Fascinatingly, she is pro-munchausens.

Link (unlisted)

She shares a personal experience where five of her close friends had munchausens because she knows they were illness faking. One of them was super severe and had to be admitted to hospital, that's how severe it was :( She proposed that it is a disorder and they should be shown compassion and help, so she never cut these friends off despite the people paid to support her telling her to. "But these friends know me better than anyone!" Yeah, knew you well enough to copy your diagnosed PNES and claim epilepsy. (She denies more than once about having Munchausen's herself, though apparently multiple people have levied the accusation against her as a retort for simply saying everyone should be kind to munchies. All her diagnoses for her multiple disorders are true and honest.)

People didn't get it:

I'd ended up saving the video, but it went unlisted a day after upload. When I went to the channel page to check, she posted a vague goodbye message to her channel community page and hundreds of people had commented in the message. There were three such posts of a suicide bait nature, but lo-and-behold today the channel is restored! She has unlisted all her rants and only her fan made alt music MVs remain.

How the hell has she manage to get the bowel perforation? Just fucking about with meds /stupid dietary stuff? Deliberate retention?
I'm surpsed they can just leave that leaking away. You'd think that would poison you pretty quickly and would be a matter of urgency.
Do we know how exactly she initially munched her way to the original piss bag situation?
As far as I can remember from her retroactively posted stuff, she seems to have had it for ages.

I find aster a rather confusing case as she does seem, wether by munch or not, to be actually (physically) ill in some sense.
But her chaotic taxis and door dash and bedbugs situation gives me crackhead vibes and I can imagine that she just really is scatty enough to basically filth herself into some legit infections which she then just rode for all they were worth.
She is genuinely disconcerting.
