The average speed of Acela in actual use is only 1mph faster than the Brightline.
Because line straightening for it is pretty much impossible. It does reach 160 mph in some segments but it isn't enough.
Brightline West's own projections are that they'd only get 20% market share by 2035, which is not enough to pay for their $21 billion in estimated costs (which were originally supposed to be $8 billion). Biden gave them an over $3 billion grant and they're already begging for another $6 billion taxpayer-funded loan for a "privately funded" project.
They were only gonna be $8 billion in like 2017. Inflation is a bitch + labor and material costs went up dramatically. Also by 20% market share, are you referring to ridership? If so then this means that annually it'd be getting for 10 million riders since that stretch of the I-15 has 55 million trips taken on it by non-commercial vehicles. The ticket price (according to some document that I still can't find again) is supposed to be 118 for a regular and 130 or something for the premium. 10 million+ trips taken per year at a cost of 100+ per ticket should be enough for profitability.
Edit:
I found it!!

That's only a billion dollars a year. They'd have a $21 billion debt (likely more in reality) and running the train isn't free. They'll be "profitable" like the other Brightline where if they go bankrupt and screw their bondholders and investors, the new buyer will be able to operate the train, but that's not profitable by any normal definition.

Your source's source says that they expect they'll have to raise prices far beyond $100 one-way:
The route ends in Rancho Cucamonga in San Bernardino County, about 40 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. That means many riders would either have to take a slower MetroLink rail connection to downtown, or face a 1- to 2-hour drive, depending on traffic. And to make money, Edens said he will eventually charge more than $400 for a round trip from Las Vegas to Rancho Cucamonga, suggesting Biden’s vision for high-speed rail may not be affordable for many people.

Keep in mind their competition costs ~$30 (with round trips starting at ~$60) and is much faster:

Much rather get on a train than a frontier flight boarding at LAX, the worst airport on earth. People who say otherwise don’t know what they are talking about.

Keep in mind that other airlines get plenty of rides and charge far more. The people who fly on Frontier and the people who fly on Delta are gonna have a different reaction to Brightlines ticket prices.

A billion dollars a year is a lot actually. Realistically the operating costs would be in the 300-500 million range annually leaving the rest of the money to pay of interest and do regular payments. This also isn't including the extra money they would make off real estate investments in and around the stations.

Oh vey, goyim. Do not question why the chosen have a better train system than you.
Ive ridden the new Tel Aviv - Jerusalem line. It opened in 2019?

The Jerusalem station is insanely deep. Its a nuclear bunker that happens to be a train station. Theres like 4-6 steep escalators that descend to where you get on/off the train. The bunker down below has giant steel doors that look intimidating, several inches thick. The train is smooth, air conditioned and quiet. It has charging ports too. The ride is boring, it looks like NM or Arizona deserts, rocky, hilly, with some farms in between. As you get closer to Jerusalem train cuts through the mountains which is pretty cool. Nice piece of infrastructure. Tel Aviv is also building a light rail in the city thats been under development for like 20 years now.

The attempted rehabilitation of Hunter Biden's image has gotta be one of the fakest and gayest things I've ever seen and the fact that tens of thousands of people are unironically falling for it makes me MATI.

"He's just a normal dood tee hee!" Nigga he sexted his niece and used political favors from his VP daddy to get a multi-million dollar job on the board of an oil company, something Hunter Biden has zero expertise or experience in.

If anyone else did half the shit Hunter Biden has admitted to and been filmed doing they would be in prison.

I understand all the shitlibs locking in to gunt guard him when Joepedo was in office but continuing to do so NOW is insane to me. It's giving me "groypers trying to say Epstein was based" vibes.

You’re arguing with a transgender Brit just FYI.

Going through my Twitter feed these days is just people begging for the World Cup and the 250th to be cancelled. Like we have reached a level of pathetic that I've never seen from another country; Americans can't celebrate or do anything fun because it would be under Trump's presidency.

So after that meet the press with the interviewer saying "no no"

Reminded me of this

The media ran cover about the hoax, of hunter bidens laptop, and they burned alot of creditability doing it. Now because he s been pardoned and the bidens have been shut out of the party, People have to cover for him or else they would have admit 6 years ago the burried the laptop because we had to stop orange hitler....alot of good that did.

Again baby boomers and older Gen X gers horrified that so many americans could support a Luigi or warehouse worker burning down a warehouse when the live in a first world capitalist country afforded to them by their income while millenials have found starting a family, buying a home and starting their life impossible due to really their parents generation of greed along with the dollar losing its value in real time.
The boomers spent decades romanticizing and mythologizing the activism of the 1960s & 70s, a lot of which included senseless violence and outright terrorism. Thanks to that, the US has to deal with a generation of kids who think that they can solve all of their problems with protests and strikes, or riots.

What's funny is that they're turning into the most powerful group in the Democratic party, and the geezers that created them can't do anything about it.
it's all feather indians on drugs and drunkards in those small towns. about one step above teepee's and igloos.
Alaska is the state you move to when you don't want to be found.

just people begging for the World Cup and the 250th to be cancelled.
The World Cup is a colossal clusterfuck that should be cancelled.

- The way FIFA did pricing means US ticket prices are insane, were talking $3-4k for nosebleeds
- Hotels and short term rentals priced higher occupancy rates that are not materializing because 1) turdworlders are scared because Trump bad, 2) people are priced out of going. Were talking only 40% occupancy for hotels that were expecting much larger crowds
- Mexico and Canadian tickets are far cheaper with value lodging. The US offers $300 Best Western rooms while you can get a nice boutique hotel for $100 in Mexico. Canada is still expensive but cheaper than the US.
- FIFAs gay obsession with public transport and car-hate has destroyed logistics for the car-based US.
- Theres risk of ebola and disease since people from Star Wars lands are coming bringing god knows what, its a security fiasco and the US is still at war with Iran so theres the threat of terrorist attacks

The only things depressing the 250th are Trump for those with TDS and high fuel prices which hurt a decent amount for people as inflation rises.

you're a fool if you think the TSA wouldn't create checkpoints after the first terrorist attack on a train
TSA is already present at Grand Central Station in DC. They've "gently" already asserted their jurisdiction on the train network -- technically speaking, they hold the authority to conduct their "standard-procedure" security screenings at any Amtrak passenger train station or stop, at their discretion, without warning or notice to the station operators. 49 CFR Part 1582 gives them regulatory and oversight authority. They just haven't flexed on it much (probably knowing how unimportant most people think passenger rail is; we all know those faggots care about nothing but power and authority, and flexing over something most people don't care about isn't enough of an ego-stroke to justify it).
