But yeah you're right, game came out 3 years before Tumblr existed, let alone its popularization. I miss this era of janky games with actually likeable villains/villainesses.

It's funny that we're approaching double-digit numbers of Disco Elysium ripoffs, and yet all of them - including the ones from the actual creators - have at-best ripped superficial shit from the game without an understanding of what made it magic.

All these lame clones, and yet not one True Detective style one where you investigate occult related murders? I mean, come on, Disco practically laid out the blueprint for a true detective style game. Would it require too much effort like actual good writing, or is it too risky? Probably both. Ah well.
 
A little bit of a necro but just under a week ago someone posted a supercut of SovietWomble's (retard bong youtuber) playthough of Disco Elysium.


Skimming through the comments made me realize exactly why everyone thinks this game is for smug commie faggots. The overall consensus of the DE fans in the comment section is that Womble is a subhuman moron who "didn't understand the game" because:

1) He doesn't think Joyce isn't super ultra satan hitler that deserves to be skinned, raped, burned alive then drawn and quartered.
2) He thinks the commies are slimy nutjobs (the Deserter in particular) and not big chungus wholesome saviours
3) He actually listened to the game repeatedly calling extreme political choices retarded and went for the moralintern / centrist (worse than one billion Trumps) route instead of picking the intellectual and euphoric communism route
4) Actually played and experienced the game at his own pace and picked his own choices instead of metafagging and picking the "correct" choices.

It tickles me how the DE fandom is just the Undertale fandom, but instead of underage tumblr children it's pretentious liberal arts midwits screaming at you for playing the game in the wrong way.

I played a sorry cop moralist and had fun with the game. Played Planescape Torment after, and they serve as two of my favorite back to back PC gaming experiences ever. The people who take it too seriously on either side are retarded faggots not worth listening to, much like Undertale "fans" who only believe in wholesome chungus pacifist route.

Every political ideology in Disco Elysium has its downsides which I find pretty cool. A lot of the writing is obviously biased but the world and characters are engaging enough compared to most commie games for me to not mind as much having actually played the game.


As a matter of fact the only path that has a lot of canonical truth to it is the Apocalypse Cop one. Everything is an accurate prediction, or prophecy of what's to come in Sacred And Terrible Air, the book the game precedes and takes place in the world of. Funny how the schizo conspiracy theorist sort of path is the one with the most accuracy and truth to the world.

The comment section reeks of a reddit QRF. I used to feel somewhat bad for the devs, but tbh looking at the cesspit their fandom is, they fully deserved what happened to them.
