"Bait" was already the shortened version of "flamebait", "flame" being already an indicator of rage. This means that "bait" already means "post intended to invoke anger" using "ragebait" means that you are saying "anger-inducing post meant to invoke anger". "Rage" is entirely redundant. Nobody called it this until the retarded niggercattle who uses tiktok decided to popularize this version of the term. Just say "bait" like every normal person has been doing for decades.

I see your point, but the word "bait" itself as in not the internet colloquialism can still mean anything 'used to lure', so just saying 'bait' as a shortened form of flamebait or ragebait is an ambiguity. Used to lure what, for what purpose? Ragebait? Goonbait? Doomerbait? "This is bait" in a vacuum, of course everybody can guess what kind of bait that is through context, but "this is ragebait" is an addendum to the word that further clarifies the intent of the speaker.

Please bait responsibly.

OP is discovering the way in which languages develop and change over time.
But the problem is that it's developing backwards. Just say "bait", it means the same thing. We went from an efficient and short word to refer to a specific concept to a longer word for literally no reason.

"goonbait" has meaning to the preface. "Ragebait" does not because "bait" on it's own has already evolved to mean what "ragebait" means. Those other ones at least make sense because it's referring to a different idea.
No but seriously kill anyone who uses slop as a suffix.
I think "slop" is fine as long as you actually use it properly.

Holy fuck, do people not understand why the term bait was used when trolling? Do they think trolling means bridge trolls and other mythical creatures even though every fucking bait meme is a fish looking at a hook?

I hate "ragebait" because like practically every new slang or even existing words today it's meaning gets completely erased after some time due to retards. Ragebait turned from "something intended to bait you via inducing anger" to "whatever someone says that I don't personally like."

"I don't like [X] media."
"You stupid fucking chud with your ragebait."
