He didn't even get "harassed" off Reddit, a couple months ago there was a whole ordeal made when after goose (who a year ago said that every character would get an episode, and in the pilot it was implied there was going to be a split a/b history structure or at least every character would get it's due) said that the show was about the bland female mc and the troon, other characters (of a show with 7 characters) were secondary (some even less) and it made people mad, so he came to the subreddit (which is full of butt kissers) and in a post of 200+ comments, singled some guy criticizing the characters screen times, (being that the first 4/9 episodes didn't present the troon rabbit as mc) and answered with "don't you think ragatha will get some development before the show ends? (She didn't, nobody did basically)

TL;DR the OP was criticizing Ragatha's being character being pushed to the side in favor of Pomni and Jax. It was one of the few critical posts you could find about this show on Reddit at the time, so I'm not surprised Cooper felt the need to make some defensive reply, since he's so used to the fandom acting like the show is flawless in every way (at least at the time he was. I'm now seeing more open criticism, thankfully)

I can't find a screenshot showing his undeleted comment alongside the two (extremely mild) replies that made him rage-delete his Reddit account, but this was his comment:

The people replying to him didn't even realize they were talking to the creator of the show, but somehow this extremely mild incident was enough to spiral into the batshit rumor of there being a Reddit harassment campaign. Months later I still see idiots self-flagellate about how awful the fandom is, while citing this harassment campaign - that didn't even fucking happen - as one of the reasons why.

(Also, I'm obviously new, so correct me if I didn't format something correctly. I just wanted to archive this incident since I still see so much misinformation about it online.)

Surprised no one here has brought up the idea of head drilling potentially being connected to the manga Homunculus by Hideo Yamamoto. The main premise being the protagonist initially undergoing trepanation (drilling a hole into the skull) under duress to "see homunculi" which hover around people and are based off their hidden personalities. It's an objectively gross manga with themes that delve into the horribleness of the human psyche, how trauma warps people, and the lengths they go to shield their inner hearts, but eventually turns into what amounts to shock porn near the end with the author seemingly just wanting to gross out readers while waxing poetically about the horrors humans are capable of.

The serialization ended in 2011 and if I'm remembering right (it's been years since I've read the manga) one of the final chapters has the act of trepanation being performed either during or just before the main character has sex with a high school girl, with the girl dying during the acts. Not saying it's an exact cause of the fetish but rather if they were active in manga circles around the late 2000s early 2010s they (or their partner) might've been exposed to the idea and later had it continue to develop.

As far as weird Japanese shit involving drills and sex Tetsuo the Iron Man is a more likely "culprit" even if it's a black and white live action movie and not tranime. The head drilling in Homunculus was more an allusion to 19th Century quack medicine and fringe theories about why ancient civilizations used to perform it. By the end the protagonist goes completely insane because he was a fucked up hobo who put multiple holes into his own skull after the initial one from earlier in the series.

Now that I think about it, that fused-together blob fetish he has could be linked to the ending of Tetsuo too.

Pomni is as bland as posible, end of series and pilot pomni are basically different people in the same skin, to go from anxious coward to Jesus Christ who is bird is astonishing , more so when it happens in less than 6 months. When don't know anything about pomni about why she is the way that she is about Jax, when it's easier to just let the fucker kill himself or not enable him.

The other characters aside from kinger may as well not exist, they are basically stereotypes who need to be in a show, not characters. Seriously you can skip from pilot to 9 and you wouldn't miss much, and what you miss will go back to normal before the movie ends.

The characters are somewhat charming (minus the self insert who becomes too much past EP 5) but so undercooked that it's not worth getting invested in any of them lmao. So much time wasted in meaningless crap.

Maybe the musical bits are ok. MAYBE. As a show writer he is ass. Its actually painful. I get the feeling he read Eliezer Yudkowsky and decided to cram together concepts he didnt really understand along with other works. The Chinese room is a good example as i mentioned before. Ask yourself how much of the show could be completely cut without affecting the plot. In fact cutting could even make it better.

This is probably why indie animation is having a bad effect on the internet and the animation industry. So many artists with little experience receive control over big projects, and they don't know how to handle criticism.

Genuinely curious, can anyone explain why they hate the show so much?
I understand hating Gooseworx, but the show is really nothing more than just okay. It's a little up it's own ass sometimes, and it's clearly just a Mascot-Horror facsimile of I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, but I don't feel like there's anything extremely out there, content-wise.

Hate is too strong a word.

For me, it's more just a sort of general apathy/annoyance at how popular this shit has gotten.

Almost like a smaller redux of the pony craze that hit 4chan during 2010-2012 when MLP was at it's biggest before /pony/ was a thing.

TADC is just another version of Murder Drones with slightly more hype behind it. This huge plot with lots of possible questions left to languish as the author clearly has put zero thought into the entire thing, and instead only wants to focus on their self-insert/therapy sessions.

I wonder if either Yamamoto or Goodwin-Smith ever heard of Jeffrey Dahmer’s criminal history. The latter is an American so they probably know Dahmer’s name at the least, but I wonder how much he knows about the specifics of Dahmer’s crimes.

I ask this because Dahmer repeatedly tried to make “zombie” partners by drilling into the head and pouring in corrosive liquid. Infamously, Dahmer did this to a teenaged boy - the older brother of one of Dahmer’s previous rape victims - who fled Dahmer’s apartment, begged for help, was assisted by two old black ladies, and then driven back to Dahmer’s house by two TRUE and HONEST jerkops.
