To be fair anyone else in the current political arena as Commander-In-Chief would also act just as passive and "merciful" as Trump would be right now, possibly even more (except Lindsay Graham but hardly anyone takes him seriously), there hasn't been the political will to properly crush Iran since the hostage crisis, and we didn't even dare go to war with them during the precise time a lot more people were itching to see them get bombed to ashes.
Seems like it wasn't just Trump being autistic about muh deal. Making it so public that they were going all-in on Beirut also tipped off the very people they were trying to strike.

Was Trump himself even involved in that approval? From what I've seen, it was mainly Rubio saying that Hezbollah brought this on themselves by refusing to adhere to the ceasefire terms. I'm legitimately starting to wonder if Rubio and the military heads are trying to keep Trump distant from Israeli military action since they know he'll immediately push for Netanyahu to draw back, and if they just fucked up by letting that NBC interviewer tip him off with that question.

You kid, but really, if Blumpf keeps this shit up, he is doing nothing but projecting weakness and sounding desperate for a deal. Iranians (and terrorists in general) live by different rules. This is really the correct response. Trump's approach to this conflict is so incoherent at this point that there's no way an ally under immediate and continual threat can or should coordinate with him.
It's one thing when the threat is against a fleet at sea ringed with ISR, fighter jets on CAP, and several types of ship-based interceptor weapons. It's another thing when the threat is against civilian communities in your country.
