But the Ottomans had such an efficient military at the time that they wouldn't stand a chance, honestly, unless they managed to match the Ottomans on that front.
The Ottoman military at the time was the real Economy of Conquest. It was not qualitatively superior to most of its enemies; most of their victories relied on having a decisive numerical advantage, and when they were met with an equal force the battles tended to be inconclusive or incredibly costly, like Kosovo. Being able to enslave the sons of Christians and use them as a standing army was something most of the other states around them had trouble matching consistently; crusades could be called, mercenaries could be hired, royal guards could be established, but none of them could provide the consistency of a slave soldier force. Serbia's best chance in the long-term would be to close the straits and wait for the remaining Christian population of Anatolia to flee or die out.

Funny how he puts T.E. Lawrence on the thumbnail only to admit that his endevour wasn't actually that important and consisted mostly of Arabs walking into already empty territory.
"Most forgotten theater"
Not the Caucasus
Not the Mesopotamian campaign
Not the Levant
No, it's the one everyone's heard of that had a massive Hollywood blockbuster made about it

To Georgia, East Rome (though not even that name is entirely accurate) was the closest thing Georgia ever had to an long term ally, a relationship dating back to Pompeii's Caucasian campaigns, and far before the rise of the Germanic and Slavic kingdoms or the invention of Islam. Not always a peaceful relationship, but there was common cause, and common religion that continued until the end. I see a certain appreciation at home for Res publica I didn't see anywhere else really, but I think some Americans are slowly catching on.

Preamble aside, Constantine XI was faced with an extremely dire situation and while not perfect - who is but God - he acquitted himself admirably.

In the end he delivered the Roman Republic a noble end, and an enduring legacy. The end of Rome signaled an end of the age and the beginning of a new one. Few nations can claim that. Most decay and die ignominiously.

The Ottoman Empire decayed and was carved up from within and without. The Italian states fell into obscurity and were eventually absorbed.

Nothing physical lasts forever, but perhaps dying on your feet is a good way to live a long life. Rome is remembered today more then any other and it served as an inspiration for the Founding Fathers of the United States. Maybe in the end Constantine did what was required of him, to die bravely for the Republic and its principles. Nations might die - they are physical - but ideas never do.

Maybe he has already won. Europe, the Near East, and North Africa ravaged themselves and now must curry favor with foreign powers far away. Maybe he's laughing at us knowing he won a glorious end and his enemies are left turning in a cycle they cannot escape.

Two observations:
The obvious: It does warm my heart somewhat that as long as its a 3D, guys recognise what's going on. Look, there are many women that like guns, history, logistics and other manly stuff but one that looks half feminine (as in this polished) is rare and they don't wear skimpy shit like that tranny veteran on Stinkditch. This is at best grifting a fantasy, at worst an instrument of control for men that fetishise a "low maintenance girl" and if influencers like this are real honeypots then that only makes it more disgusting in my opinion.

The nooticer: It seems that channels like this always have a similar ratio of likes to comments (around 8k-10k likes to 300-500 comments) across posts which does intrigue me. I've seen YouTube posts with less likes but more comments across channels on the same genre so A) People like this leave the nicer comments and jannie everything else or B) The bast majority of engagement are bots and shills. Not really worth a thread but it does fascinate me enough I built a YouTube algo as a deadpool to see how's an actual glowie.

She's not a fed you idiot. She or better her manager realizes that space of YouTube is full of fucking morons that will post the same fed post memes on her shit thus boosting engagement. People are getting played. Just in the most obvious way.

I remember her ducking her tail running away on twitter when people had talked about how she was doing videos and spewing mostly stuff that was wrong and (the biggest crime in their eyes) not doing her uniforms properly. I remember she deleted a bunch of her shit on Instagram and YouTube, left for a while and came back. Idk if anyone ever saw it but she did show more her true colours of being either A: just ignorant or B:abusing retards for money.

For anyone interested in financial and corporate history, a stock trading Youtuber made a video going over how a global financial services firm destroyed itself with a technical error caused by a high-frequency trading algorithm.

He hasn't uploaded to Youtube in about a year. Is he still active somewhere?
Apparently, rumors were going around that he got arrested but a former editor shot that down, I think he just went through what a lot of YouTubers go through, where they have burnout, take a break, and realize that their life is infinitely better not going through the rat race on YouTube.

Zoomer is having a minor twittertard slapfight including Pax Tube. It's over if a guy, who led an Empire that invaded other countries he deemed lesser to his own, liked another Empire that invaded other countries it considered to be lesser to itself.

This isn't the first time it happened either.

Remember, never listen to all these fake historians, trve historians spend hourse online arguing if liking brown people is good or not (if you have the wrong opinion, you are a race traitor brainwashed by the jews).

Is just the "Stab in the back but for Eastern Europeans. If it wasn't for" dem latins" we'd have Constantinople and shieet. Surely it wasn't because the Byzantines embodied all the worst stereotypes of decadant orientals, couldn't be. Muh icons.
Hey don't smear them in this way. Constant civil wars , Court plots , sucession crises... Were time-honored Roman tradition.
Eunuch and unemployable sperg.

If true. Good for him. Better than if he had ended up like half of lolcows here.

Tom Scott's new series after leaving for a few years basically a love letter to England and English history.
After King Henry VIII formed his Church he basically found himself taking over every job of the church. In this case walking people over some quicksand flats.
