The thing is, to the best of my knowledge, anything with a slope of 10 degrees is absolutely not meant to be a structure that you are standing on like it is a deck. Generally a deck can drain in several ways, without the need for a slope that severe. The fact that there is a pre-existing slope of that magnitude is a strong indicator that the structure the "deck" was built upon was never intended to function as such.

Has anyone figured out how he gets onto the deck? Does he actually have to climb through a window?

I am going to take the point that this isn't THAT bad AS LONG AS 1. There is no static load more than one skinny human and 2. There are NO planters at all. The handrails are functional and high enough. He chose to make level handrails instead of sloped handrails which is fine. The floor boards follow the slope for drainage which is fine. BUT HE DID NOT UPGRADE THE LOAD CAPACITY with substructure improvements!!!! If he ever decided to put planters up there AND have more than one person stand up there he could very well collapse it and die. The left side railing is mounted completely differently than the right.

The right railing is clearly at a much different heights. Note the excessive space between the bottom of the decking and the right railing. Could it be the roof sags in that corner?

It’s not over an indoor structure. He literally screwed poly vinyl deck slats onto the top of his porch awning, which is why it is slanted in the first place.

As an aside: any deck that’s totally exposed to the sky, much like how Fatrick’s widow-maker walk (I know I already used this one but it’s funny) is, is near totally miserable to use at any point of the day the sun is up; and Fatrick’s is too narrow to even put an umbrella on.
