The floor boards follow the slope for drainage which is fine

Nice slope, stupid:

This is awesome his balcony is sloped and he just screwed his railings right into the deck boards.

It also looks like he bought brackets for those posts that are too big so he could put the posts in crooked to account for the slope of the roof.

This thing is such a deathtrap I'm almost impressed.

I am going to take the point that this isn't THAT bad AS LONG AS 1. There is no static load more than one skinny human and 2. There are NO planters at all. The handrails are functional and high enough. He chose to make level handrails instead of sloped handrails which is fine. The floor boards follow the slope for drainage which is fine. BUT HE DID NOT UPGRADE THE LOAD CAPACITY with substructure improvements!!!! If he ever decided to put planters up there AND have more than one person stand up there he could very well collapse it and die. This kind of "Upgrade" genuinely is a killer for that once a decade time where somebody has a house party and puts everybody on the deck to watch fireworks or something.
I dunno man I wouldn't bet on that railing stopping a Tomlinson sized man drunkenly stumbling down a 10° slope.

Upon further review it is not mounted to the house's side for structural rigidity and the post mounts are screwed into whatever decking that sunroom roof or whatever with unknown lengths of screws. You may be correct... it has gotten worse the more I look.

Lol I go to check >Reddit and first thing I see on my FYP is Fatrick's deck.
Holy shit he really did just put plastic planks over a porch roof and directly screw into the tar sheeting(?)

Not only is there no space for drainage under the planks, this r*dditor points out that since the screws go directly into the roof there is presumably zero weathersealing and the OSB(I think) underneath might not like that. I do not think this will stand the test of time. Can any code experts tell if roofs like this are designed to have weight and furniture put on them?
Also noticeable is that along the left edge of the planks there is a noticeable dip (and some of the planks are not cut square)

This picture really shows how the posts are "vertical" but the brackets in the bottom are not and follow the roof, meaning they are oversized and do not securely grip the post. This is a hackjob.

Did Tomlinson put the door in or was it always there?

There was a recent post about why Wisconsinites installed random ass doors on the upper levels of their homes. I cannot be assed to remember why and can only assume that if even if there was a good reason, Rick's shithovel is beyond the intended purpose.

Odds are this fail of a balcony will fall way before anyone actually walks on it, that's how bad it seems to be

Holy shit that's going to rot out within a couple of years.

I'm not a contractor but there's no fucking way that thing has proper joists to support weight for any significant amount of time. Also, there's no way that railing is properly secured into anything. Either the railing falls over after a couple of years once any weight is put on it due to the rot, or he falls through it and lands balls first on a beam. Normally you'd want to build some shit bullet proof so it'll last a few decades at least. This fuckwit not only didn't do that, but drastically de-valued his home in the process.

His home insurance provider would have a fucking field day with this.

Relax Kiwibros and Kiwisis', according to the second, better forum, the City is aware of the balcony debacle, and an inspector will respond. However, they are very busy at the moment, so it may take some time for the inspector to take in the absolute fiasco that is the HandyPig's most recent opus fattus. This delay is a good thing because it allowed the HandyPig to finish. The oinking will be so much louder when he is cited for the innumerable code violations and told to remediate or tear it down, or face daily fines. OTOH, the inspector might just condemn the thing. Given HandyPig's overweening truculence, I suspect that there will be fines. The City will claw back that settlement money a dollar or hundred at a time.

Quick edit: I am certain I am not the only one that hopes for a confrontation such as that which HandyPig had with the JB Hunt delivery driver, and which ends with the MPD showing up to tard wrangle..

This is to prevent small children from being able to crawl underneath and fall to their death/dismemberment.
That alone might get him inspected from the fucking street by an inspector who happens to be driving by. It's almost up there with "unfenced pool" in the list of "dangerous shit you don't build".

The midwest is full of "one and a half story" houses where the "second floor" is just a glorified attic. They almost always have bent staircases (to match the roofline for at least part, reducing wasted space) and so they'd put a door on the upstairs outer wall to allow large furniture to be brought in - think mattress/boxspring that won't bend up the stairs.

Some really, really old ones may have used it for coal delivery, but that usually went into the basement (as it still does at the hovel).

Non-Milwaukee kiwis just can't appreciate the design choice here. You can just let go of your bottles as you're drifting off into sleep, and they will roll down right into the open recycling can for the waste management professionals.

Enjoy reducing, reusing, and recycling, bottle children!

On looking at it, this actually DOES remind me of my last apartment's porch! The only differences being that it had properly secured guard rails, the landlords didn't pierce the tar sheeting, it had an actual door... it was sure as shit crooked and supported in a nigger rigged fashion though! Great views down the road to The Garage, too.

Either it's going to rain or he waters his planters on this "balcony" and he's going to slip and slide through the gap under the railing until his gut catches the bottom like Mr. Incredible going in the tube.
That slope looks downright uncomfortable to stand on so you can best believe he will be loading the balcony up with heavy ass patio furniture now that he can afford it.

I’m sure that neighbor in the section 8 next door really appreciates Fatrick building this voyeur balcony right in view of their apartment window.
With chinky solar powered LED's shining directly through, no less

It is almost impressive how incompetent Patrick is at.... everything.
Coupled with his insane arrogance, this is hilarious.

I am looking forward to him crashing through the rotting roof, getting stuck, and either hollering for help, tweeting for help or waiting in silent embarrassment until Nicki comes home.

Jesus, the gap at the far edge of the deck...

I'm going to rent his AirBnB and lean against the rail so I can get a huge payout when his shoddy workmanship instantly fails with the lightest wind gust.

I'm honestly surprised the city hasn't gone after his ass for putting together a massive liability and safety hazard like that deck.

I'm not a master builder or whatever the fuck, I'm some shmuck that's put together shit outta wood and steel and I can tell that is NOT structurally safe.

His fat fucking ass is gonna fall through that and kill him and/or someone else.
