US‘Not a golden calf’: Trump erects gold statue of himself - They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’
Donald Trump has been accused of building an Old Testament-style ‘idol’ to himself, after a 22-foot gold statue was unveiled at Mar-a-Lago.
The statue depicts Trump raising his fist, reminiscent of the moment he avoided a bullet whilst on the campaign trail in Butler.
Evangelical Pastor Mark Burns presided over its unveiling, describing the moment as a "celebration of life”.
The President did not attend the unveiling in person, but delivered a message over the phone.
“I want to thank Pastor Mark, he’s a good pastor,” the President said. “I know [the statue] was done out of love, I just want to give you my love… everybody is taking pictures of it.”
Trump ended the voice note, saying: “God bless America.”
Users on X have been quick to describe it as “heretical”, which Burns denied.
“Let me be clear: this is not a golden calf,” he said. “This statue was not created for worship. It was created as a symbol of resilience, patriotism, courage, and gratitude. It was created to honor a man whom many may disagree with, but millions of Americans believe has done extraordinary things to make this nation stronger.”
It comes weeks after the President received backlash for sharing an AI image, seemingly depicting him as Jesus. Trump denied criticism of the image, insisting that he believed it to show him as a Red Cross doctor.
if Barak Hussein Obongo built a Renaissance styled statue depicting himself as the (half) Black saviour of Americans and only plonked it in his backyard,
The plebeian masses were taught to treat this guy like a savior, it’s actually refreshing to see Trump make a monument to him not dying when being shot at, and it’s just at his branded golf course. I don’t see any religious iconography personally. Neither do I at Napoleons tomb, or a statue of Charlemagne. No I like seeing statues of things. What I don’t like are meatsuit automatons imposing their shallow, peasant opinions on things.
Conversely we have to pretend the liberals who “fucking love science” don’t deify their rational quirk chungus heroes with ironic monuments to their disengaged superiority like the stupid fat black women statues, or the George Floyd penis monument.
What’s more offensive to the eyes. Shiva a Hindu god of destruction being used as the basis for deifying Obama, or watching over the particle accelerator smacking around atoms, or a golden, defiant Trump statue?
Because at the end of the day I am not going to forget this:
I strongly disagree.
You listen to half of his stand up and he went directly against the things that the woke are doing.
Especially redefining language would piss him the fuck off.
He would have so much fun with stuff like "What is a woman?", he would make a whole special about this shit.

But every statue is an idol, right? The artist’s intent doesn’t matter. Only the word of the peanut gallery who knows they won’t be held accountable for such charges matters.
There has to be some chain of words man or machine can string together in order to convince TES that we don’t “worship” the head of a political party that does not show outward hostility to us.
It has to be trolling at this point. Or maybe they really don’t know how utterly vilified the DNC are among the common man in spite of the 24/7 propaganda everywhere.
I don't care what some faggot prosperity-gospel preacher says, this is 100% a golden calf. And even beyond that, it's just tacky and embarrassing. If you can make excuses for this, you can't say you aren't in a cult.
Plenty of MAGAloids were cheering it on at the unveiling. I have zero doubt many will bow down to it, since MAGAloids are beta cucks and have a weird, undying desire to be submissive to Donnie Dementia and serve him as their king.
The one I got was 100% AI-generated. Since that is apparently supported by the staff, I have some ideas of my own…
It is important to remember that everyone, even his own people, think he is a clown. He is permitted to exist because Null misses the old days when we had a small, active user base. I wish I screencapped it when I saw it in chat, but Null was sad, saying “I can’t recognize anyone anymore after the leak” (of 2019) so that’s the only reason he hasn’t been banned. Nostalgia.

Wow, guessed the poster in one. Not saying Trump can't be criticized some, but can TDS posters at least sprinkle in some variety in their article subjects? It might not look so blatantly single-minded then.

We get it, you get seething mad when someone doesn't want to get down on their knees and be submissive to this man and when they don't think this man is a young man who is the strongest, healthiest and fittest man in America today:
Have you gotten your test levels checked yet, little guy? It's not normal to be as submissive as you are. Nothing is more beta than wanting to get down your knees and serve a fat old man with dementia as your king

Lol right. Anyone who uses the term "TDS" unironically is likely a die-hard MAGAloid. Worshipping the Chris Chan of presidents makes you a lolcow, little guy

Hey, man. Making fun of people is TDS now. Didn't you know? We should ignore that anyone who reacts the way that dude did at opposing opinions looks like they're bitchy and butthurt over people making fun of him.
There’s an old documentary called Jesus Camp which showed a bunch of kids praying to a cardboard cutout of George Bush. The Trump statue reminded me of that.
As a giant gold statue of U.S. President Donald Trump was unveiled in Florida last week, a group of Hasidic ultra-Orthodox Jews joined the ribbon-cutting ceremony, while Trump personally thanked them for their contribution during a phone call documented at the event.
The 6.7-meter (22-foot) statue was installed at Trump National Doral Miami, a golf resort in Doral, South Florida and received widespread ridicule on X for resembling a modern-day "golden calf."
The towering statue depicts Trump standing with his fist clenched in the air in a pose resembling the moment after the assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Pastor Mark Burns, an evangelical leader and self-described spiritual adviser to the president and longtime backer, led the project and described the unveiling as "a celebration of life."
Posting on social media after Wednesday's ceremony, Burns personally thanked ultra-Orthodox activists Yaakov Flitchkin and Hershey Friedman, who he said were among the "6,000+ Patriots who gave, prayed, supported and made this historic moment possible." Despite Burns' personal mention of the two, the scope of their contribution remains unclear.
Trump was documented speaking on the phone with Flitchkin and Friedman, according to the Yiddish-language X page Kanynahora, with Burns holding the iPhone while the president was on the line. "I want to thank you so much… I love that name," Trump told Friedman, adding: "It's turned out to be a beautiful piece of art. I hope you're happy with it."
"It's an honor to be here," Flitchkin said, to which Trump replied: "Come up and see me in the Oval."
Flitchkin is the executive director of the Alliance for Global Cooperation, an organization that says it "promotes international peace & security" – though its website is currently inaccessible. He is also listed as an "angel investor" in a group called "Bilateral Navigator," where he is described as "a prominent philanthropist" who is "active at the UN in interfaith and intercultural dialogue."
He has previously been involved in several events directly associated with Trump, including the president's second inauguration in January 2025, where he held a small replica of the Trump statue. During that ceremony, Flitchkin was photographed with Burns, then-New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Brock Pierce, a former child actor turned crypto entrepreneur, who was also present at last week's statue dedication and cut the ribbon alongside Flitchkin.
In addition, Flitchkin was one of two guests who visited Ukraine in October 2025 to take part in the opening ceremony for the "Trump Peace Park." The park, located in the Jewish village of Anatevka, was built in honor of Trump's "global peace efforts, particularly in Israel," according to Moshe Azman, Ukraine's chief rabbi. Burns was documented alongside Flitchkin in Ukraine last year, where the evangelical pastor urged Trump to provide Ukraine with military aid, including U.S. tanks and F-35 fighter jets.
On his Instagram page, Flitchkin features photos of himself with Argentine President Javier Milei, U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and far-right American broadcaster Tucker Carlson, among other leaders.
At the statue-unveiling ceremony in Florida last week, Trump phoned in to address the dozens gathered there, thanking them for the "beautiful" statue. "I got to look at it very closely and it's incredible," he said. "We love you all, and the country's doing great. And Iran is not doing good because of us. They are not doing well at all," he added.
While the statue unveiled last week drew praise from the president's supporters – and from Trump himself, who wrote on Truth Social that it was "put there by great American Patriots!!!" – many on social media mocked the giant gold monument for resembling the golden calf from the biblical book of Exodus.
"This is what idol worship looks like," Reverend Benjamin Cremer wrote on X. Nicholas Kristof, a New York Times columnist, said the statue reminded him of "the kind of thing" he "used to make fun of when reporting in North Korea."
Burns sought to dismiss the criticism, writing on social media: "Let me say this plainly: this is not a golden calf. We worship the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone." He added that the statue "is not about worship. It is about honor."
