I had a whole paragraph here about different aesthetics I see on the street, but I've thought about it some more and I think the issue is that subcultures are pretty much dead. Everyone is just aping some look they've seen online, often using products bought directly from the influencer who modeled the look. Rather than alternative looks being about someone's personality or music taste, they're alt for the sake thereof. You can tell more about someone's social media algorithm by the way they dress than you can tell about them as a person. I think that's why no one feels truly unique anymore, even when they're clearly trying.Expressing yourself however you wish via clothes and hair - it’s something people don’t seem to do so much these days, all the kids look the same
