At what point, if any, is it immoral to buy the last of a product at the store?

No, I was at the store and they'd restocked my favorite variety of a product after not having them for a while. I was tempted to buy the entire stock but I ended up buying about half instead because if someone else had bought all of them there wouldn't have been any for me.

If we take a broader look at the problem though you may be doing yourself, your fellow customer, and the store a disservice.

The store would benefit from knowing how much of a demand for the product you want is and in the long term would start to buy more of that product to fill that demand. You and your fellow customers would get more access to that product and the store/supplier would sell more product if only you had been more selfish and inconsiderate.

I understand where you're coming from but they do routinely sell out of it so I'm not worried. I'm due for another trip to the store tomorrow and if the ones I didn't buy are still there I'll clean em out.

I remember when people bought ALL the toilet paper at COVID, then tried to resell them at high prices.

It was very satisfying to watch those scumfucks whine about their stockpile of hand sanitizer and toilet paper after COVID

Fun fact about the Great Toilet Paper Shortage of 2020™ - it wasn't caused by panic buying and hoarding. There was actually plenty of toilet paper, but it was all commercial TP (single-ply), and people didn't realize they could just simply wipe their ass with that instead. The supply places that sell TP to businesses were more than eager to sell their stock, but people are too dumb and they just figured if it's not at Target, it must not exist.

Anyway, apparently single-ply and double-ply have very separate supply chains since single-ply is mainly for commercial use and since people were all wiping their ass only at home now, they were using too much double-ply and not the expected amount of single-ply. That's where the perceived shortages came from.
