Tens of millions of dipshit college students have been signing on the dotted line to get their Pell Grants, subsidized and unsubsidized loans for years and years, promising this that and the other w.r.t. college expenses, only to go out and immediately spend that money on complete bullshit. Only Russell Greer has managed to fuck it up, in sworn writing, on a legal form, that he spent government money meant for educational expenses, on unrelated shit. Without any provocation, threat, promise or coercion, Russell manages to snitch on himself. Willingly.
I think the courts would be more impressed if he just said "i took da student loan money and paied for hookers cause mike was discriminating against me with this whole rent bullshit"
Edit, just for fun, I should add that to the best of my knowledge and personal experience, no academic institution or governmental body has ever required individuals to disclose what they spend their loan/grant money on. It's been a while but I remember maybe they have a clause in the application process about promising to only spend it on educational expenses, but they don't follow up or regulate it. Just check "I agree" and mooooove on.

DoorDash/Lyft probably requires proof of title, registration, and insurance on the vehicle you list with them. Maybe Russ messed up the paperwork somehow, or tried to get cute by registering a fake address or putting the car in his father's name. That discrepancy could cause a hold on his DoorDash/Lyft account until it's manually cleared up. (Assuming he's telling the truth here, but also assuming he's a dipshit trying to hide his public info.)
Also, how does "my landlord was already infringing on my rights" lead to "I need to buy a car and do DoorDash"? Was his plan to just not work until the $200k came in, but the eviction case forced him to get some actual income?

But, and here’s the kicker, Student Loans can legit be used to pay for housing while a student. In January 2026 he still owed 4 months rent.

There are indeed restrictions on what you can do with student loan money. I don't think it is ever enforced, but technically, on the books, there are restrictions.

There goes Rusty again lying about consent to electronic service through e-mail. It's not true Rusty, not even close!
The other thing Rusty doesn't seem to understand is that he might be able to pay rent weekly going forward, IF HE HAD THE ALREADY EXISTING RENT IN ESCROW, but he doesn't. You can't just start paying now moving forward, you owe everything in arrears, then you may have had a chance to pay by the week, but you absolutely cannot get past not having paid previous rent.

I don't think the court could even allow him to pay weekly if his lease agreement is monthly. On the 1st of the month the full month must be in escrow. Greer isn't allowed to force the landlord to prorate the rent weekly. The court is not a financial counseling service.

I used to sling pies for a chain and no, they don't do background checks. Not for irrelevant stuff anyways. They do require the usual stuff like insurance, how many miles, does it have four wheels, etc. If you have a driving misdemeanor felony that might raise an eyebrow.
Of course it's been over a decade so things may have changed.
