well the number 1 is complicated but more or less unless a navy is willing to brave the strait the Iranians can keep it closed indefinetly

the upshot of this is that the US has forced every nation to buy oil in dollars for the last 60 years, its what gives us so much economic power despite being so in debt, the iranians are telling boats they can pass if they trade their oil for Chinese Yuan, trying to destroy this us "petrodollar"
