AI Derangement Syndrome / Anti-AI artists / Pro-AI technocultists / AI "debate" communities - The Natural Retardation in the Artificial Intelligence communities

I feel like 97% of people involved in AI debates have little computer knowledge.
I mean, yeah, that's a given. One of the most common anti-AI talking points is that generating an image somehow literally deletes water from the planet and uses it to copy/paste things directly from struggling artists. And they are dead serious, too.

lol

"They're developing this against the will of the public, it's undemocratic!"

AI companies aren't the government, they can develop whatever the fuck they want. I'm sure there are movies being made you don't like either, that fact doesn't make their production undemocratic.

I've got more pictures of the "protest" in https://x.com/i/status/2035491530107158848

You now understand the kind of people who are actively against Ai usage in all circumstances

Edit: I've got more info. Apparently it's not just openai that got the protest. No words about Google though.

The water shit is such a dumb talking point. AI isn't even in the top 5, nor the top 10 industries that consume excess freshwater. It doesn't take more than reading a pie chart to understand this on a basic surface level way. Not like reducing excess freshwater use is even worth fighting for, the bigger fish would be investing in more efficient water infrastructure, desalination projects, reuse of wastewater for agriculture, etc. Out of all the retarded reasons to avoid AI for the sake of ideological purity it's probably the most retarded one because it doesn't take a genius to know this is dumb.

I don't think this protest sign equivalent of a leftist meme is going to convince anyone. Being held by a caveman notwithstanding.

For how vehemently opposed to AI the AIDS crowd is (and how a large portion of them are probably unemployed and have an abundance of free time,) I'm surprised they had such a small showing. I saw an anti-Trump protest at a Tesla dealership this past January in a snowstorm in bumfuck Ohio when I was visiting family, and there were at least five times the people. Is anti-ai sentiment even more astroturfed than I thought?
Also lmao at the mush-mouth protestor they interviewed. I don't really think any of the AI outputs I've read are particularly interesting or eloquent in how it expresses things, but if you can't even string together a basic coherent sentence about a cause that you're supposedly so passionate about, then yeah, I'd probably feel threatened too

I feel like 97% of people involved in AI debates have little computer knowledge.
And the worst part is, they don't realize how woefully uninformed they are- their retarded views are entirely educated and worthy of respect, in their eyes.

has there ever been a protest more obviously funded by the Chinese government?

Tbf I feel like a lot of the pro ai side are also relatively tech illiterate. There's something about the way people post shit that gives me vibes of 'look at me using technology terms i am very smart and good at computer'. It's like that one friend who picked up a hobby a few weeks ago and that's his entire personality and he acts like an expert until you ask a single question.
Oh my god, they're going out into the streets.
Jesus fuck all 20 of them. If your protest is so small that I could make a bigger crowd by throwing a few handfuls of pennies on the floor then you should just fucking kill yourself.

It’s the modern version of “crypto mining causes global warming”. All electricity usage causes (an extremely negligible amount of) environmental harm but it’s only bad when [technology I don’t like] does it.
