If Jer is actually the most retarded version of himself, it's possible that's what he's been up to. As much as I hope that's what's happening, I don't think it is.

Yes, the 'borrow money to make more money than you owe back' strategy requires you to 'make more money'. I think the most likely explanation for what we've seen so far is, Jer has realized that his main channel hit its peak a while back, and he's been unsuccessful at pivoting to different types of content or livestreams. Because of this, he is trying to kickstart Unsleeved Media into his 'big' channel, and his attempt at doing that was staging a recording he tried to astroturf into going viral with the Pokemon pull.

It's actually not a bad strategy, it's just that it's not going to work for him. It could work for someone else, but for Jer -
  • He has an internet history which will dissuade a significant amount of potential new audience
  • UM already has a negative reputation in the space, which relevant to the existing audience for CCG content
  • Most importantly, as KC loves pointing out, he is an extremely bad performer and entertainer
I think the 'fund the channel to own the haters' is probably not what's happening, although it still is possible. Jer has good days and bad, and on his bad days the trolls make him crash out, but when he's at full power, the trolls don't have nearly as much influence over him as other lolcows we can observe. I'm guessing he will actually fund his Quartering-related stuff for a while, though (YT videos, Quartercast [livestream]), for as long as it's able to distract him from the things about his real life he's clearly avoiding (health, marital, financial situations declining) or until his money runs out. For as long as Jer is able to scam naive people into thinking his channel is actually as big and influential as he boasts it is, the reality is that Jer still has income, there's just no way that income is nearly as much as it was in the past, and it's unlikely his current business model (schemes) is capable of growing.

To be clear, there's a lot of speculation in all of that, some of which is based off of assumptions that aren't provable. It's just my personal theory that best explains as many of the observations about him that have been made.

I dont understand this financial shit but I asked Grok about it and it makes some sense and fits with what he is doing. Explains why he's doing crazy expenses on very pointless things that generate no income at all. Basically it's all just borrowing. He's even mentioned before about having a "cash flow problem" which further ties into it. Paying employee salaries on a credit card too, and collecting points. He's talked about that.

Jer has a marketing degree so he should understand what NPV is. Him using debt to fund investments is theoretically sound, the problem is the NPV of these investments is near or below zero. What is the ROI, margins and NPV of buying pokemon cards to open on a demonetized channel? Whats the point of upgrading sets or adding more sets and buying more cameras and stuff when the VALUE those things brings in is next to zero. His content is the fucking problem not how much or little he has invested in camera quality or lighting.

What about his coffee company that supposedly generates 1$ a bag? Personally I think he is a pathological liar so we can't trust anything he says about the coffee company. Considering we KNOW its Millcreek he probably makes more than 1$ a bag and hes just lying about that for pity marketing. Unfortunately I have no idea the specifics on youtuber coffee and the deals they work out but I'd imagine he probably does make decent money with it (assuming people bought it, which we know they don't so he's probably losing money on licensing/expenses related to their deal)

Highest viewcount is currently 4.3k. 3rd most recent video is titled "WOTC HAS KILLED THE MTG BOOSTER BOX!" (MY BOOSTER BOXES ARE UNDER ATTACK!), and his most recent video is titled "I WON THE LOTTERY! MTG LORWYN COLLECTORS BOOSTER BOX OPENING" with the thumbnail proclaiming "I HIT THE JACKPOT". Seems contradictory to claim that the booster box is dead, and then compare it to a high-payout. At least he's admitting it's gambling, I suppose.

I just skimmed through the 'lottery-winning' video. He's having his editors add effects that make the pack-open-reveals actually look like a slot machine, with fireworks, sound effects, etc as well as having the estimated market value of 'big' pulls to manipulate the viewer into thinking he's making money. There were a couple $20 cards, but if there was anything 3 digits or above, I missed it.

At the end, I saw the head of a cat poking out from behind his chair. I'd never seen any of his cats on his stream before, but I remembered the story of him abusing one of his cats after it pissed on some piece of furniture. Looking for a frame with the cats head in view, I stumbled upon this frightening sight

Jer's obsessed with status and likely is trying to frame success for some form of scam. He for whatever reason needs to flex about his wealth and success, and the decline is forcing him to spend money and spam shorts to lie about metrics. Likely to soothe his ego, but also so he can still trick shitty companies into paying for him.

It's both, but what pisses him off changes depending on what he is thinking about at that exact moment.
