The most annoying part is that I know that some of the records I want exist, but their data preservation policy, according to them, is: 'We delete everything after six months, unless some random employee clicks save, in which case he is the only one who has it. Long overdue update since something significant happened less than an hour ago.

The timeline is more or less like this:

• Initial request was made on 9th of January
• On January 13th, they said "Due to the high volume of public records, additional time is required." The new timeline was 19th of February
• On 17th of February, they concluded that no records existed
• Today, after a lot of effort on my behalf, they provided as a reasoning that they delele records every six months. The records in question are from 2024, so this isn't an explanation for the difference between "high volume of [...] records" and no records. In addition, they offered to search through the County's backup IT systems
• If I agree, this would take up to six months.

I intend to take them up on this offer. It is likely that I will not have any update to you for the next half year

Sounds like they're likely stored in long-term backups for compliance reasons like that. They may have to save them but there's nothing saying they have to have them readily accessible.

Heh. The police are obviously lying. Russ certainly lied about filing police reports especially when he admits he doesn't even know the person he is accusing of felony stalking. But there is no way the police have no complaints about Russ. It would be more believable if they said "Russell Greer" returned too many records and the request would need to be narrowed.

He probably would be dumb enough to try get an actual farmer arrested but:
There are no commercial kiwi farms in the state of Nevada, he would have to go to California, kiwi fruit grown in the Sierra Nevada Foothills region (specifically California's Nevada County).

It would not surprise me if he did try.
