Iran Crisis & the 2026 War between Iran and the United States, Gulf States, and Israel - Please focus on news and coverage, not argumentation.

Hezbollah launched its farthest missile launch ever, with 2-3 missiles being launched towards Ashkelon in southern Israel.

A missile also struck a studio in Kiryat Shmona

The cluster munitions are giant cope. Its like taking a shotgun to the targeting map because your missiles can't guarantee an accurate hit. Yes, they are killing people and causing damage, but none of it is calculated. Its a sign of weakness and the only thing they have left since they can no longer saturate the area with a number of missiles since all their sites and launchers are getting blown up.
Cluster munitions are not a cope. They're a cheap way to defeat interceptors by drastically increasing the number of missiles that they have to shoot down. This was the whole idea behind Cold War-era MIRV ICBMs. In theory the submunitions could also have guidance packages which would make them just as accurate as a single large warhead.

This sources gives 21.5EB / month mobile data with 12x "wifi", with ~20% yearly growth, as of 2024. This is ~8.2TB per second in mobile data alone.
SEA-ME-WE-4 is 4.6 Tbit/s, ~1/15 of that number.
To me this indicates a larger attack would be required to significantly degrade The Internet, but again this is not my area of expertise.
boss im sure I could get you those numbers, I used those 2 particular cables to illustrate geography more than bandwidth but I warn you we are knocking on the door of entirley hypothetical lines of thinking, the amount of data that would need to be "re routed" outside of its own recognized domain structures would be astronomical, imagine your wifi goes down so you just start using your neighbors, not only is this WAY slower but think of the security vulnerabilities you open yourself up to, thats the kind of logic we would be using.

The IAF targeted ~5 Iranian naval targets in the Caspian Sea, strikes reported in Anzali port.

The narrator in the video claims three ships were struck.

I'm behind on the times: how has this been implied/shown?
It's been a pretty steady drumbeat for the past 5 years. The PLA, particularly since Xi's accession to his third term, has been modernizing and there has been incredible levels of political turmoil in Beijing as the result of 'corruption' investigations against high levels of the PLA. These are alleged to be linked to resistance to or inability to actually meet the 'invade by 2027' goal. China views its 100 year anniversaries, 2027 and 2049 as key windows to achieve the goal of 'national reunification.' 2027 is the 100 year anniversary of the founding of the PLA, following the expulsion of the CPC by a powerful alliance of opium gangs and the Guomingdang in Shanghai. 2049 is the centennial of the PRC. 2021 was the centennial of the Party itself.

The PLA is basically a state within a state, owning vast amounts of property and entire industries and operating as a black box of spending and procurement with little strategic purpose or combat effectiveness beyond a potential need to invade Taiwan. Some of the best parts of every major city in China are locked up by the military brass. One of my favorite restaurants in Shanghai had to move because the old military fucks didn't like the number of foreigners visiting a world class Italian restaurant in their neighborhood. The big problem with the PLA is that it has little real purpose, China has no true enemies if it alters its foreign policy course just slightly and abandons its quixotic dream of unifying with Taiwan. Beijing has no real security dilemmas actually besides how it is to escape the middle income trap without fucking over its existing economy and pissing off the US and Japan and South Korea.

Zhang Youxia's purge even lead to rumors of an attempted coup in Beijing. I'm not finding those things at the moment, but it was just rumors of stuff like tanks on the ground in Beijing, big mobilization of military forces there.

The current state of things is up in the air. China is definitely reassessing its ability to invade in 2027. This war is a huge blow for China in terms of its ability to exert strategic pressure on the United States. Shit or get off the pot was a big part of the decision calculus with Iran, it was this year or possibly next year, better to strike with initiative and while you're not being pressed on another front.

  • Iran isn't the reason we have $31 Trillion (and counting) in National Debt
  • Iran isn't the reason the cost of living continues to rise uncontrollably in the US
  • Iran isn't the reason we have morally bankrupt ideologies being pushed on our kids in the media
  • Iran isn't the reason test scores in our schools continue to drop like a fucking rock
  • Iran isn't the reason we have a generation of young people glued to screens and lacking critical thinking skills
This shit is so retarded.
Like America should be restricted from using global force because niggers and trannies exist.
What are we even talking about here?

I never really understood why America accept lobbying as a whole. It feels like the easiest way to corrupt a government.

Sadly because elections are expensive though it could lead that way because of lobbying. It's a whole affair that generally warrants its own thread as it's out of the scope of the war itself.

I stand proud and fucking tall calling these retards brown. They're all fucking brownies, and that's why they don't ever post fucking hands. This is at least the second doomer who's been revealed as a filthy shitskin in as many days.

He is LITERALLY an Indian.
I'm 1/3 Indian (Dots), 1/3 Indian (Feathers) and 1/3 Indianian (Hoosier)

I'd hazard to guess it's the resentment of folks who really really wanted Trump to focus on domestic problems. The argument of "Bombing Iran actshually IS domestic policy and here's why:" is irrelevant. These actions, for good or bad, are pretty unpopular outside of entrenched spaces like this because there was hope for making us strong from the inside first before we started fucking with the sandbox again.

as the result of 'corruption' investigations against high levels of the PLA.
Said it before a over a week ago that replacing experience with blind loyalty 'yes men' always spells disaster for any future endeavors of performance of a country's military operations as it instills fear among the chain of command of acting independently without authorization all the way up from the top. This is why Middle Eastern militaries always performed terribly in confrontations throughout the mid-late 20th century because you had officers not knowing what to do without the daddy leader giving them specific orders, otherwise if they they acted on their own discretion, then they'll be seen as a potential future threats to the leadership, thus must disappear.
And high levels is an understatement, he got rid of two Vice-Chairmen (2nd highest authority of the PLA right under Xi) being General Zhang Youxia and He Weidong, with Zhang being one of the only few serving Generals who had wartime experineces from the Sino-Vietnamese war. Keep in mind this purge included over a 100 high ranking officers since 2022 including former Defense Ministers Li Shangfu and his successor Wei Fenghe.

Thank you, extremely informative.

It's a very weird situation to speculate and play in world politics. There's a lot of moving parts we have to keep track of: we need to stop the Chinese plans long term before it becomes too costly, we have the opportunity to stymie it and the retarded regime of Iran. The probelm is that the current time frame comes with costs at home and abroad: not all Americans aren't all in an ok place to weather the current consequences of what's going on now and a fear of the endless war with the desert crops up again. Non-Americans have their own problems with their economies too so a sooner end is prayed for due to enduring a few more hardships. Worst of all, it is harder to justify the future when people struggle right now, and struggling might mean losing housing, jobs, or food.

Trump is a blowhard with a big ego, but he's not a complete idiot, and the government is a lot of working parts with lots of people putting a lot of thought into things. There's reasons we churro Madero and blow up the ayatollah at the times they think are right. America probably did some fuck ups somewhere we'll see down the line, but it is easier to be mad at those in a few years than to cringe at some world upheavel that actually would lead to more war later. I don't know, there's a lot of smart (and stupid) kiwis with a wide view of things and knowledge in these sort of events that I don't feel like chimping out. The Iranian people are happy that the Iranian government is getting blown up, America has only recently surpassed 10 dead, and the big pickle is gas prices and transportation, which might not last FOREVER and it doesn't feel like it will. I'm still new to all of this and can't imagine the Strait being closed more than 2 more months - which would still be awful, but how the hell would Iran last that long?

Politics suck because there's so much you can spend time, money, and resources on but only so much of each avaliable. Combine that with humanity being inherently flawed and being assholes by siphoning things to their own projects, and it is a managment job from hell I wouldn't wish on anyone. I'm lucky I can weather this out, I just feel terrible for those who can't or were so close to being able to but got set back. Sorry for rambling, it's been a fascinating thread and thanks to all news spergs and military spergs out there. Semper fi all armed kiwis, semper fi Iranian kiwis.

Fun fact about Arabic, the same word (قنبلة انشطارية) can be used for both a fission bomb (splitting bomb referring to the atoms being split) and a cluster bomb (splitting bomb referring to the munitions)
