Ohio Police Officers Sue Afroman for Putting Security Footage of Them Raiding His Home in Music Videos - He wasn't even high

Rapper Afroman is being sued by several Ohio law enforcement officials after he put footage of their 2022 raid on his house in music videos about the incident.

The Grammy-nominated rapper, who is best known for his 2002 jam “Because I Got High,” made a whole album about the August 2022 raid in which police broke down his door based on a search warrant for drug trafficking and kidnapping. No evidence supporting those allegations was found and no charges were filed.

He told NPR of the incident, “I asked myself, as a powerless Black man in America, what can I do to the cops that kicked my door in, tried to kill me in front of my kids, stole my money and disconnected my cameras? And the only thing I could come up with was make a funny rap song about them and make some money, use the money to pay for the damages they did and move on.”

The musician, whose given name is Joseph Edgar Foreman, wrote about the raid in several of his songs, including “Lemon Pound Cake,” which opens with they lyrics, “The Adams County sheriff kicked down my door, then I heard the glass break. They found no kidnapping victims, just some lemon pound cake.”

In the surveillance footage included in the video, police are shown kicking in the door and walking past the titular cake on the kitchen counter. Afroman told NPR that the cops also broke his video surveillance system and stole $400 from him.

Four deputies, two sergeants and one detective from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office are now suing him, his label and a Texas-based music distribution company for invasion of privacy.

In the complaint filed last week, they said they have received death threats, and also suffered “humiliation, ridicule, mental distress, embarrassment and loss of reputation.” Unless the music videos and social media posts are taken down, “Plaintiffs will suffer irreparable injury to their reputations, their mental health, and their legally protected rights,” the complaint read.

They are also seeking all proceeds of the songs and videos, as well as his merchandise, including sales of the malt liquor made by his 4204 Main Street Brewing Company.

Afroman said his reaction to the lawsuit was “a drop of anger, disbelief and a little anxiety, followed by tons of laughter. I was thinking, these big bad cops … are being beat up and bullied by those little corny rap songs I made about them. I’m like, ‘Oh my god, are you letting me know that my raps are working on you?'”

He was already planning a defamation lawsuit against the police and now plans to countersue. “I want to sue them for stealing my money, I want to sue them for writing ‘kidnapping’ on a warrant and making me suffer financially in my industry because just that accusation makes people raise an eyebrow about you,” he added.

In December, Afroman announced he was running for U.S. President in 2024 as an Independent on the platform of getting “weed legal everywhere.”

I never liked afroman. I remember hearing Colt 45 back in the early 2000's with my White friends and seeing some of the creepy early stages of nigger worship. My former best friend's sister is now a coal burning single mother, and he's an Eminem fan that named his daughter Hayley. I don't associate with any of those people anymore.
Plenty of people enjoy fun music and still do shit with their lives. Sounds to me like you're just from some white trash shit hole.

You gotta appreciate how the entire point of this lawsuit was to stop the Adams County Sheriff's office from being embarrassed and now Afroman is doing everything in his power to publicly crucify everyone involved 1000x worse.

The story started out as "A gaggle of dumb cops raided an innocent man's apartment based on a misunderstanding and a rapper made fun of them, and also lol fat guy ate lemon pound cake." and if it wasn't for the lolsuit they filed, it would have stayed that way.

Now the story has become "A corrupt police force made up of pedophiles, sexual deviants, drug addicts and general freaks conducted an unjustified police raid on a civilian home based only on the words of a drug addicted jailhouse informant lying to try to weasel out of multiple felonies, drug it out for three years in the court system, and now every single one of them is having their names, faces and all the most embarrassing things in their life exposed on a national stage."

I was going to criticize the “tried to kill me in front of my kids” part but that could’ve gone really sideways if he’d been home at the time. I can see how he has that perspective. They’re clearly not sending their best and shit happens.
He says he didn't set out to make a hateful album; he just wanted to laugh about it. That's brought him a sense of victory, he adds.

"Me laughing at them, making songs about them, is more powerful than their authority," he says. "It's more powerful than their assault rifles, it's more powerful than what they got because I got these big bad tough guys crying and whining about my songs, on my page, in my world."
Yeah, that sounds familiar. Hope he wins.

ImNotALawyerBut is covering the trial on her Youtube channel, including live streams.
Here's a recap of day 1

Wow, that female cop really does have a low voice.
It's actually hilarious that they play Afroman's videos in court while the officers have to sit there.
Here's a longer video where the last 15 minutes is just officer Lisa Phillips crying while Afroman's video is playing, calling her 'licc'em low Lisa' over and over again.

he's still black though and that's his problem
I'm not sure he's actually rich. I've seen him live twice at a 300 max venue in a no where town which doesn't really scream rich to me. He probably got $1000 for the night.

Internet says he gets 25,000 grand per event and I know that's just flat out not true. I know the owner of the venue where I saw him and that dude does not have that kind of money nor would the show, sold out even come close to making that much.

I did get Afromans autograph though.

It's still one of the funniest music videos I've seen in quite a while. Lemon Pound Cake is funny, but "Will You Help Me Repair My Door" is funnier.

You can just knock a 0 off of that and you're in the ballpark. That was with travel, lodging, agent's fees, riders, etc. $2,500 and about $500 worth of booze and weed. Those weren't in the contract but it was made clear it was rather non-negotiable.

This is the funniest fucking thing I have ever seen
I cannot believe this isn't a feature on the front page. This is amazing. He's just straight up fucking with them and the whole court case is like an episode of the office if it were actually funny. Even if he loses the case, he still forced this dumb cow to sit there and cry in public while a song about how she's a carpet munching dyke played for upwards of 15 minutes. The judge can say whatever he wants, Afroman won.

I look forward to more moments of hilarity to come out of this trial. Afroman a real OG and these fuckin pigs gotta get off his dick.

"you don't know if your wifes cheating on you?" "you really wanna go there"
:story:

I'm confused, was the cop that turned out to be a pedo still on the police force or was he fired? If he's still employed as a officer that's even more fucked up

That aside, guilty or not Afroman is based as fuck for trolling them so hard.

Lick 'em Low Lisa is clearly just upset that Afroman didn't lick her like he did Officer Cuckold's wife, despite being a carpet muncher.

Based Afroman. You can't sue individual police officers, but they can sue you for making music videos from footage off your own security system, about the dipshit deputies kicking your door down and salivating over some pound cake
What a fucking disgrace to my home state
