Soldered storage would be a nuisance. It could be done, and they could have soldered + expansion slots. I don't think soldered storage is that common outside of Apple and low-end eMMC devices. Also, I checked the new UFS 5.0 and I think it only supports 1 TB.
Soldered RAM matters more for the 256-bit mobile sockets. And right now they can more easily put the product in your hands if it's barebones, or has the bare minimum needed to work, like a single 8/12 GB stick.
AMD has gatekept X3D desktop mobile/MODT parts to a single 16-core SKU for both Zen 4 and Zen 5 generations:
There's only the 16-core 7945HX3D and 9955HX3D. They don't even have any 8-core Fire Range.
Maybe with Zen 6 increasing to 12 cores, they'll reconsider that, but the segment could use a shakeup (likely from Intel launching Nova Lake w/ bLLC as an X3D competitor).

The weird face filters are simultaneously really uncanny valley, but also insanely impressive that it’s able to do that in real time. The most impressive thing was what it did to lighting. It’s almost like DLSS was just simulating path tracing using the upscaler and it didn’t look like complete dogshit.

I'm refreshing the Lenovo site every day for the past two weeks now trying to buy a Gen 14 X1 Carbon and it's been driving me nuts.
SLI was the shit and it's a shame Nvidia hired whoever the total cocksucker is that decided to take it from us.

They had a few controversies in the past. I forget the specifics, but I vaguely remember them getting involved in culture war nonsense at some point. They also used to have ties to Eurogamer I think it was? Point is, they can't really be trusted.

The demo was run on 2 5090's btw, one rendering RE and the other running the AI slop "upscaling". Idfk how they are planning on making this work on less powerful cards.

Nooooo you're not supposed to encode details in a neural network and apply it to the scene using tensor cores! You're supposed to encode details in a bitmap and apply it to the scene with a TMU! My experience is ruined!
