Find it strange how Richter never made a video on this mod considering how close he was to the development and how stubborn he was about the controversial changes in it. The most I can find is him appearing on a couple of ZJ stream and a stream he did on release day. But no proper video or trailer.

I'd like to believe that he has silently admitted that no one will come back to play his mod and that its reputation is already completely tarnished.

The reason why the Gold Rush died has to do with developers making very odd and weird choices. I get it that there was no auto-reload in TF2 2007, but it was a nice addition by the TF2 developers that we grew up with. And on the other hand, there was a massive fearmongering along with server operators for Gold Rush, which scared away players.

And about TF2 Sourcemods, my problem with them is that a project or a mod only seems to exist:

• To brag about said mod as a developer for no reason
• Has no actual purpose
• Have no unique differences or do something new.

the closest thing to that is just that people thought that it was associated with zesty since ritcher was in it and that's it, which created a different set of problems that got drowned out by the simplest one, no fucking communication

Personally I enjoyed TF2GR while it was still alive, mostly because TF2 at it's own is simply a fun game no matter what.
It was obvious the playerbase of the mod was extremely small, wasn't uncommon to see a dev or two playing on the servers. One of them even claimed that they haven't touched TF2 in a long time in favor of playing GR only, wonder how's that working out for him now lol

Speaking about TF2C, one thing I noticed is that some people still act as if they are playing casual mode, leaving quickly after a loss or before a map change. Has meet your match traumatized the TF2 players so badly they can't stay on a single server for more than a round?
I joined TF2 much after quickplay was removed, was it really something so much better that was simply taken from us bros?

Short answer is yes. Prior to MYM, leaving the server was something done if you didn't want to play a certain map people selected or you wanted to get into another server with a map or mode you preferred to play (It was something sporadic; people came and went whenever). But now, under Casual, people have been brainwashed by those stupid sliding doors to leave as soon as the round ends and one cannot move anymore. It's disheartening.
