Yep. Death penalty means less murders. And less murders means innocents are less likely to be convicted of murder by proxy, because there are less murders.

The reality is that murders, statistically, have gone down overall this century. Police got smarter by targeting high-risk groups (i.e. increasing scrutiny of gangs), removing lead has literally made people less insane, and pro-active police intervention does a lot. Increased public surveillance, as controversial as it rightly is, has also helped.
