Karl just didn't understand what SASS is about. SASS is more about fun and making noise while larping as a cowboy at a social event with your fellow retards. it's not meant to be a challenge in stamina or physicality in any way.
On the one hand I have some sympathy for Karl, it's difficult to have super niche interests that overlap in theory but not in practice, and it's difficult when you struggle to articulate why you like the weird niche things that you like.
Oh he knew, he'd apparently done it for a bit previously and got bored. Fuck, I don't even disagree with him about the SASS shit being a fucking cowboy cosplay event more than it is a shooting match. The problem is that Karl was too fucking dumb to realize a bunch of geriatrics were never going to have any interest in a cowboy brutality match so they basically politely told him to piss off. And if you go back to the first page of that thread, they found his video and weren't flattered by his portrayal of the SASS shit to begin with, it was the discussion that prompted Karl to jump in and try to defend himself against the "establishment". His shit was never going to work in that community, the community would never want to work with him, they would never want to work alongside him, but somehow he knew he had the right idea? He should have just ignored them entirely if he wanted to start a series of actual matches since the two crowds are completely different. But why cause a problem where one didn't need to exist? Mild case of ODD like I suggested? There was no other reason to do what he did, other than to try and kick over someone else's shitty sandcastle.
My interests in cowboy guns are very similar to Karl. I'm autistic and only care for period correct leather gear, guns and even load my own black powder ammo replicating 19th century revolver loads (fav load in .45 is 40grs compressed BP w/ 255gr RNFP. that's powerful as shit).
He just has a way too high opinion of himself, with a healthy dose of Dunning-kruger.
While gaming the fuck out of it. Tell me, how much "fun" does a person like this have at the match? He probably does 2 hours of dry reps every day at home with the stage description before going to an event
People have fun in different ways, even if it's incredibly gay and pushed by boomers who made their kids watch The Rifleman too much.
Sure, but let's stop pretending that SASS is like a funny cosplay match where people play cowboys, but an actual competitive event where people who attend are doing all they can to get the edge to win, including raping those guns with modifications and super light loads.
Maybe you're just venting because even Karl hates SASS being uninteresting and nobody disagreed with him either. It's just absolutely retarded to suggest mixing things up to these people when they've got thousands of dollars invested into their crappy shooting gallery contests.
I know next to nothing about SASS and therefore can’t comment on what it is or isn’t. What I don’t understand about that entire situation is why? Why on earth would you waltz into their forum, tell everyone they suck and their sport sucks and then be surprised when it isn’t well received. Further baffling is if Karl wanted to shoot a cowboy match that wasn’t SASS, he easily could have just done one of his own and called it western brutality. Rules: bring a model 94 and a six gun. Wear a hat and goofy belt buckle if you want.

I may be misunderstanding you here. But the entire point of my post was to say if the boomers want to dress up as cowboys and play gunfight at the ok corral, let them and leave them be. Who are they hurting? If Karl wants to do cowboy brutality, let him. I was saying Karl is a dumbass for invading where he wasn’t welcome. And I’m also saying that karl trying to change an existing rule set is stupid when he’s perfectly capable of starting his own cowboy match that he wants

Yeah, it would have been better to just ignore them entirely. Start his own match, advertise it as his own match. Never even mention SASS or show anything like SASS in a video. But Karl can't do that because that would mean being normal and not going out of his way to irritate people for his need to rage against the machine even if it occurred more politely there than the many other times he's pulled similar stunts.
Didn't Karl also have a philosophical hard-on against people who wanted to do matches for purely competitive or recreational reasons? I recall some people I knew who went to matches talking about that. Like, matches are to train, that kind of mindset.

I don't know about that, that's ridiculous even for Karl. It does remind me of a different guntuber that thoroughly got himself cancelled for being a fucking idiot(having cameramen down range sitting next to targets being shot at, he actually got a youtube community guideline strike over this and more on some other shit) I can't remember his name but I want to say his youtube channel was Tactical Response or some shit like that?
Didn't know he died from ALS, that sucks. But it doesn't change that he was a fucking idiot a few levels dumber than most.
