We do have bases yes, but they are not being used for this. The 5th fleet HQ in Bahrain was in fact evacuated in the lead up to this. The American Air Strikes are being launched from bases in Jordan and Israel.

There is a bunch of wonking on why Iran is bombing all the GCC countries. The best people can come up with is that its the best Iran can do. Its difficult to strike at Israel and the Carriers which are both beyond the range of Iran's SRBMs. Hitting the Gulf States demonstrates they are "doing something" and the US does have bases in these countries.

But its purely psychological terror bombings as these bases are not being used for the campaign. Iran may think they could convince the GCC to pressure the USA to stop the campaign, but all indications are this is just infuriating them.
