Boycotts just don't work as a whole because society is incredibly consumerist. For how much people complain about their issues and the injustices of the world, they still have boundless capability to indulge in entertainment and vices.
Also, when was the last time these people seen him? I know he was in the new sonic movies but he had a long gap between his last big project and those films. Age + Plastic surgery is going to make him look fucking jarring to people who last watched him in the 2010s

Those things certainly are becoming less successful, but it's not because of boycotting. The products declined in quality, so people stopped buying them, but they will go right back to them if the quality returns.

Exactly, I hate EA, it has been incredibly easy to ignore their products because it is all shit or remakes I do not care about. I hate Ubisoft and it is easy to ignore most of their products too... but Anno 1800 is really good and I cracked and bought it on sale. When Anno 117 gets patches and DLC I might grab that one on sale too.

On that note, I just got out of Scream 7 myself and noticed while watching that the snarky bipoc dyke from the last two movies had all her gay pride shit completely removed.
But the distinction is that Budlight is an adequate product, people boycotted it because of shit the company was doing, the product was fine. People are not buying AAA games because they are simply shit products. Sure they are a side effect of bad company DEI policy, but if the company puts out a good product, people will buy more of it even if the company was still doing DEI shit. Because at it's core, it is not a boycott, just customers not buying bad products.
Budlight is bottom tier dogshit beer. Even regular budweiser is a step up in quality. It only lasted so long because it was cheap and as drinkable as water.
