Disaster Active shooter alert issued for areas in and around Tumbler Ridge, B.C. - Residents asked to shelter in place; suspect described as "woman" in a dress with brown hair

An active shooter alert has been issued for a large area in and around Tumbler Ridge in B.C.'s northeast.

The alert was issued Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. PT by RCMP, and it covers Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd, Dawson Creek and areas surrounding them.

Police say those in the Tumbler Ridge area should stay indoors and shelter in place, and not leave their homes.

The suspect in the case has been described as a woman in a dress with brown hair.

Anyone who sees the suspect has been asked not to approach them and to call 911.

No, because it would be unenforceable. There was a case where a 12 year old girl had killed her family with her boyfriend and her name, photo, etc. got some US media coverage and tossed onto sites like ED. Nothing the courts could do beyond tut-tutting the people doing it.

If there were a trial (ie, the troon didn't 41%), American media would likely have been barred (although leaks would almost assuredly happen regardless.)

The key difference between the two things is Trans stuff is projected as something everyone must be comfortable with and portrayed as a huge group of victims fighting an oppressive system (Which it fucking isn't in places like Canada or the UK/Europe, or any white-western country) and anytime a shooting happens it must be outsider influences which totally pushed them into it and they're a poor victim, where as when it's a 'White Supremacist' it's got to be "They self-radicalised on the right-wing internet and this is a clear indicator we must destroy those places".

Also who the fuck needs to be rehashed that any racial extremist group is evil, we're all fucking aware of that thanks to the events of the 30s/40s.

Given the demographics of the perp, I wonder whether Ottawa will decide to pull an Ofcom-style extraterritorial temper tantrum on American websites circumventing the inevitable gag order, or whether they'll just send orders out to Canadian media to totally avoid covering the story at all after the initial public interest dies down in an attempt to dump the entire event into the memory hole.

If they choose the first option, hopefully Null's response letter is really funny, and hopefully it doesn't strain the legal coffers alongside the lawsuits and Ofcom stuff. I think that's the less likely outcome though; the Canadian government is generally savvy enough to understand not to fuck with America with regards to the First Amendment (even if that means letting Canadians get away with wrongthink and thoughtcrime on overseas servers), especially since that attempt to extort Meta a few years ago was a failure.

Regarding the "dress" thing, BC is always milder than the rest of Canada but I have no idea how far north Tumbler Ridge is, or what the climate is like in northern BC. Did the crazed gunberg seriously need "spinny dress go spin" in what I assume is very seasonable Canadian winter weather? Deranged even if it were a real woman.
