Jer was desperately trying to suck up to Elijah and Syd for whatever reason. He flew all the way to Texas to glom onto them when the video I posted was filmed. He met up with Elijah, they recorded videos, one for Quartering's channel and one for Elijah's I believe then went out drinking and partying together, God only knows what played out. He was supposed to record content with Sydney Watson too and she was supposed to join them but conveniently she was "sick" that week and they never met up. This was when Syd and Elijah were still on a show together before Jeremy simped for her. Jack Murphy insulted Syd on an episode of her show with Elijah and Elijah just let Jack tear into her instead of standing up for her. Jer swooped in and started super simping for Syd and people sent him massive dirt on Jack Murphy which he posted shamelessly ending in Jack Murphy getting blown out. At one point Jeremy even posted uncensored revenge porn of Jack and his wife and got his Twitter suspended for a week.
Syd had a massive public fallout with Elijah in the wake of the Jack Murphy incident and it came out that Elijah had "substance abuse issues" and hated women and Syd had been complaining to Blaze management about him. Blaze fired her and she filed a discrimination lawsuit claiming she was fired for complaining about workplace harassment. This caused other women to come forward about Elijah, I think he groped Savannah Hernandez or something too. This turned into a full blown right-wing #metoo event and Jeremy used it as an opportunity to side with all the women coming out against right-wing creeps. He was joining public Twitter spaces where all these women were airing out grievances of sexual misconduct and constantly tweeting out #believeallwomen tier posts of support. This spun into Jer worming his way into private group chats full of women gossiping about right wing creeps which is how he knows about all this stuff about people cheating on their wives and being closet gays. He was also offering at this time to out conservative men for being creeps on behalf of women if they asked for his help coming forward with accusations.
Syd and Jer started a stream together some time after this. Having gone through a few streams of theirs my take is that Syd realized quickly that Jeremy was the same kind of gross creep he was pretending to be against. Syd had an uncertain future at this point and seeing how Jer was willing to simp for her she strung him along. She was pretending to be oblivious to his motives and used his horniness over her to extract money and favorable business transactions from him. I will have clips that support this narrative at some point and LOL is it hilarious to watch in action. This slowly mutated into Syd turning Jeremy into her little bitch puppet where he was saying things like "TERFs are based" and reciting her feminist talking points on command thinking he was making progress towards nice guying his way into her pants. She eventually simped him into starting Publica which Syd used as a vehicle to hire a bunch of her anti-trans RadFem allies led by self describe Marxist-feminist Anna Slatz. They all took cushy jobs on Jer's dime pushing out articles about trans weirdos and how Indian people suck (Anna is Canadian).
Much later Syd dropped the bombshell that she was dating a guy, but only after it was serious to the point she was taking him to Aussieland to meet her family and needed to take time off. Jeremy seemed to have little knowledge of this until shortly before it went public. Several episodes after this big reveal the show she did with Quartering ended. It was radio silence for a while after that and Syd had zero visibility on anything Jeremy related then Jeremy abruptly released a video saying ThePublica was closing but he and Syd were still on good terms. A week or so after that news broke that Syd had settled her workplace discrimination lawsuit with Blaze out of court in arbitration. A month or so after that Jeremy began publicly seething that he had lost over a quarter million dollars on thePublica and Syd had ghosted him when he asked for some of her settlement money to settle up. He said he was going to sue her, but not for money (never revealed what he would sue for otherwise), probably because he was simping so hard he didn't bother to put anything in writing and knew he didn't have a shot in hell of getting that back. He also said that Syd was saying "really horrible things" about him in private group chats but stopped short of saying what exactly those accusations were. My guess is she was outing Jeremy as a perverted creep who was drunkenly sexually harassing her in DMs but without confirmation we'll never know for sure. Syd publicly ignored him and after seething for several months the Kino Casino clipped an old livestream of Jer and Syd I posted a link to where she dog walks Jeremy into agreeing with a bunch of feminist talking points and he basically walks back every chauvinist comment he's ever made with the energy of a whipped mule. After that he deleted all the tweets and livestreams where he talked about it and moved on.
There was some extra shit in there about Hillary Crowder beefing with him because she was in some of the group chats he weaseled his way into and him attempting to white knight his way into Lauren Southern's pants then raging out when she decided to throat Destiny and become a Russian propagandist instead, but it's all very meaningless and the headline is Jer simped hard and got played. I'm not American, but I looked up how to get a congressional/senate media pass; if I'm wrong please don't kill me. Everything I read says that you have to prove you work for a valid media organisation, and actively be in Washington DC and the Senate nearly daily, otherwise it's nearly impossible as an independent journalist to get a pass. As far as I remember Elijah was only a contributor to the Blaze and other media outlets prior to his slightly offensive podcast getting picked up by the Blaze, and most of the contribution was videos from riots he'd sell to news orgs. Freelance journos also need to prove they have upstanding credentials, which one look at his content and podcast would automatically be disqualifying. The timeline from when he started in media to getting a press pass like this don't add up, as it can take up to a year to get even with good standing in the media industry. Spending 10K on new sealed product to open it is just throwing money away. I don't really know anything about Pokémon so can't comment on that, but those Lorwyn Eclipsed collector boosters he was holding have almost no chance of plussing.
There aren't a lot of big money chase cards, outside of the serialised cards, which, by their nature, are almost impossible to pull. Recent collector boosters in general are very swingy in terms of value, you would almost certainly be better of buying scratchies.
But, this is a known thing among pack opening channels, so having a hobby you can write off and have some cardboard gacha dopamine isn't the worst thing ever. But, when you consider the (alleged) money put in, the opportunity cost is outrageous.
For 10K you can actually buy some MTG stuff that will have a good ROI. You can buy some nice reserved list stuff for that money, look at the Tim Fool with his framed dual lands, even a retard like Boogie staved off homelessness thanks to selling his old magic cards.
If you absolutely have to buy sealed, you can do that but if it's to make money, don't ever open the thing. It's like how the second you buy a new car it loses a third of its value but a lot worse. There are entire communities dedicated to using MTG as an investment piece, if you want to spaff money up the walls, there is a smarter way to do it.
Also, opening a card shop, massive money pit. I live a medium sized city and like all 3 of the card/comic shops here have shut down the past 5 years. Stores are getting squeezed hard.
