Yeah, I imagine if you forced them to follow federal warrants you'd get nothing done. I.C.E. will obviously advertise the deportations of the worst offenders, but the majority of deportations are done to people without criminal convictions, and even though it absolutely has to be done, I'd imagine having to go through the process of obtaining warrants for every single person is such a time consuming process that yeah you'd get nothing done.
The biggest threat to any sort of immigration right now, regardless of country, is the "no human is illegal" mindset. It's such a short sighted, naive mentality and just thinking "well, as long as you only deport people committing violent crimes it's okay" is a sentiment people need a more sobering attitude towards. Same with refugees.

A nation is a group of people. No one who established America was an immigrant, as America was not the nation of any indigenous people.
The indigenous have their own tribal sovereigns. And they failed to establish modern nation-states.

That doesn't make us immigrants. An Anglo Saxon cannot be an immigrant to an Anglo Saxon nation without leaving somewhere first.
A nation are a people, an extension of the family, and they have been since ancient Rome. It's only in the postwar era people confuse nation, state and country.
But I assure you they are 3 entirely separate things.
