This is fucking brilliant. It's even better than shooting them or beating them up, because this hurts their feelings worse and they don't become "martyrs" for hurt feelings. It wastes protesters' time, distracts them, mocks and enrages them, and there's fuck-all they can do about it since this is a perfectly reasonable use of law enforcement resources (i.e. distracting dissidents who would otherwise interfere with operations, leading to higher costs) and not actionable.

How are they this fucking stupid? The cops don't need a warrant to ask who you are and to ask you to prove it. A fucking beat cop is entitled to that information and they some how think federal agents aren't? I know some of them have to be fucking lying so some idiot dumber than them will refuse to give up their ID and waste an ICE agent's time but the fact that there are people who genuinely believe it.
