I miss when subtle politics were baked into Star Wars.
During the Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader novel, Palpatine has to navigate the post-Order 66 galaxy and its politics. Even though he is Emperor, he was still a constitutional monarch, and so, he had to play the role of the gentle politician to keep the Senate satisfied, since he still needed them to pass his bills and stamp their seal of approval onto his agenda.
When asked by a senator on why the Jedi betrayed them, he responds that he doesn't know, but he uses the fact that most clones obeyed the order without question to posit the idea that the clone army had a hunch that the Jedi stank of corruption, hence why they executed the orders when they got them, without hesitation. He also couldn't openly say that he sent a mentally-deranged Jedi to wipe out the civilian leadership of the Separatists, so he pretended that Viceroy Gunray and his allies on the Separatist Council were still alive, and that they could take the deactivated battle droids as a sign of their surrender.
It was quite interesting to see Palpatine play the political game and keep worried people quiet and satisfied in the early years of the Empire, when the Imperial military is just what's left of the Republic military, and they didn't have all the power yet, so they had to work with the consent of the governed and keep them quiet and happy.
I just loved the thought that the Star Wars galaxy was this fully-realized fictional realm with realistic politics and ideologies that are down-to-earth and relatable. There's a time for over the top Sith powers, but there's also time for realistic politicking and maneuvering of political pawns. That gives Star Wars an advantage few other franchises have. Most franchises have OP powers but a simplified political landscape, or low fantasy to go along with a "realistic" political landscape. SW managed to get the best of both worlds back when the movies and the old SWEU were in concert.
The stuff people praised Andor for, SW had that as far back as 20 years ago, if not more.
