Allow me to introduce a solution: This digital scale.

Not only does it measure dry goods with precise 0.1g accuracy, but soso measures liquids in milliliters (ml).
Oh, that is nice. I was touting the measuring shotglass for liquid cold medicine, though, when you're feeling more Fly than Brundle. The kinds of things one weighs on a scale like that would probably help a lot more with nasal congestion.
Please tell me you've seen this.
Ah, nice!

A while back, some friends and I made the "flourless peanut butter cookies" recipe, but used Biscoff butter (and less sugar) to alchemize Biscoff spread back into cookie form. It worked pretty well, actually.

Long, long notepads are cheap and great for adding color and whimsy into your tasks. TJ Maxx sells them for $4 each and it always has 10+ designs in stock, including some trivial holiday ones like national pancake day.

You can get grow lights for cheap from sites like Temu and use it for your regular grocery produce seeds: apple, lemon, watermelon, avocado, pumpkin, etc. It's pretty cool to see how fast they can grow and how different they can look.
You could make it useful by regrowing product scraps like green onion bottoms. Or have microgreens (from lentils, chickpeas, any veg or herb seeds) ready to eat after a few weeks.

There's stained glass paints you can buy from Michaels, Amazon, etc. If you want a lot of colors it's going to add up quick, but you can buy a few to mix them together, too. They peel off and stick back on great for years.

You can’t go wrong with a milk frother. I know so many people that don’t own one of these, it solves like 50% of your coffee problems! If you don’t have one, what are you doing?
Do you have a recommendation for one? I see a lot of Chineseum available on Amazon, but I want something that will last more than a few months.

I stopped by Lowe's yesterday and picked up a few of their mini buckets and storage totes. They are absolutely adorable. I use the bucket to collect my embroidery floss scraps. No idea what I'm going to use the totes for, but they're so cute!

This is my novelty item of choice - I love stationary but can't commit to a good journaling habit, but I do need a daily planner. I've gone through like a million of these for work:

My other useful adult novelty items:
- bath and bodyworks hand sanitizers (fun seasonal scents, prevent sickness, also useful after eating out if you had something a little greasy)
- fun herbal teas, over ice (hydrating and tastes much better than stuff like mio and crystal light)

There's this one kitchenware and specialty foods shop I like to visit down Kanata, I'm sure you would love it. My personal favorite kind of novelty item is tea sets, but we barely have any space in the house for more than one. :'(

A rechargeable can of air. My husband found this device, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FPMPBSLL?

WOLFBOX MF200 Compressed Air Duster

He uses it to blow away the coffee chaff after he's done roasting, leaves from the porch and other annoying debris. He's mad because his doesn't have a removeable battery but it's okay he'll survive.

I received a scaled down version but I still have a can of compressed air to use. I find canned air funny because a little while ago a guy got banned from an office supply store after being caught huffing in the store restroom. He had a favorite brand of canned air and was desolate on being banned from his supply. Inconceivable to have a preferred brand of air in a can.

edit to add he bought our daughter a cell phone microscope that I need to find out more about (failing close vision from aged-ness, us not her)

I tried the Mrs.Meyer's cleaner in honeysuckle scent based off of this thread. I'd seen it in the grocery store before but assumed it was one of those all natural cleaners that doesn't work well at all.

In practice, it cleaned my countertops and stove better than my regular cleaner (comet) and smelled amazing. I look forward to trying one of their bathroom cleaners next :)

I love their fragrances. Especially honeysuckle. Thank you for reminding me about them. I need to get some more all purpose cleaner. I tried a different brand (field and future by HEB) and my lungs did NOT like it.

I need a new cleaning product because my lungs have started reacting really badly to the one I have. It’s supposed to be eco friendly lavender but one spritz and if I breathe any of it my lungs object. The eco ones mainly don’t work but that one did so it’s annoying

Hahaha.... yes. Glad you liked it, though! It's just a nice little thing to have a cleaner that smells good, but actually works.

I'm just picturing Null reading an affiliate code on MATI some day... on fancy dish soap and bathroom cleaners.

Holiday fragrances are out... and should be going on clearance next month, if you want to roll the dice about there being any GINGERBREAD left!

I've always liked the Mrs. Meyers' "Iowa Pine" scent. It's pine-y but not Pine-Sol, which is apparently difficult to achieve in cleaning products. I also like their peppermint (don't care for their regular mint), but I hadn't run into gingerbread scent until this year. It's GREAT. Not cloying and sweet, just spices. Like what I'd hoped their "Acorn" would be.

"Snowdrop" can do whatever it's doing; it's just vaguely floral and I hope someone enjoys it.

My big disappointment with the Mrs. Meyers line is the candles. I'm usually a scented soap more than a scented candle person, because candles just add a layer of scent on whatever you have happening, they don't broadcast as much of it for the money, cat might burn my house down, the usual.

I don't know if it's a flaw in their alchemy, but the Mrs. Meyers candle scents don't always match with the cleaning scents, even in the same line. Kind of "off." I think the soy vs. wax candles (large vs. small?) might be different, but at this point I'm just going to remind myself not to throw good money after bad, and buy more nice dish soap.

Have we mentioned Japanese washcloths?

I love this thing. It exfoliates, makes mega foamy lather, dries quickly, is huge to get the whole back and shoulders at once.

These things are great! I converted the ladies in my family with exactly your talking points: imagine a bath puff that doesn't mildew and that you can autistically scrub the skin right the hell off of your back with.

Okay so this isn't small nor inexpensive, but for a one-shot investment of $125.00, I absolutely love my Dribbl bubbling bath mat. The suction cups work really well securing it, but I added some circular magnets with adhesive backing for reinforcement where it tends to want to float up (especially near where the hose attaches and the pressure is highest from the air compressor).

It's not any more noisy than any other hot tub, and when you crank it on high it really gets going. It also has a heat feature and a remote control. I recently went to a "high end" resort in Mexico that featured an in-room jetted bath and this thing blows that out of the water (he he). I can't recommend it enough for those of you that enjoy a nice soak.

$4?! I used to buy those for a dollar at Michael's. I haven't bought any in years but still have some because I am a paper hoarder (no apologies).

Honeysuckle is the bomb. My other favorite is Fresh Cut Grass, though it's harder to find and in fewer variations (can't find the candles).

I recently bought myself an electric mattress pad - I share a king bed that has two extra long twin beds mashed together. Each side adjusts independently but we share a top sheet & blankets. He runs hot and I do not but I do not like fuzzy sheets that trap me in place. The electric mattress pad is the bomb! I set it to preheat so it's toasty when I get in and then turn it down to the lowest setting for 7-8 hours. I sleep in pajama top and underwear now when the thermostat is set to 63F.

I've had this little beauty for a while now:

Tweezerman Mini Squeeze Cutical Nipper, Silver

I use it mostly for hangnails not cuticles and obviously it's not for men only. It removes the bothersome parts so easily and neatly. It comes with a little plastic cap to protect the edges so it stays sharp. Love love love this to use a reddit-ism.

Edit
I can't get it to quote @Accept Only Substitutes about Mrs Meyers but I detest the lavender soap. I have JR Watkins lavender soap and it smells very nice, very true. Mrs Meyers lavender is too sweet and smells of chemicals. It maybe has a faint connection to the flower but it cannot overcome its deficits. I was sad. JR Watkins is too spendy for kitchen soap so I thought Mrs Meyers was a good compromise. Skip all lavender products in the Meyers brand.

Ostatnio edytowane:
Mrs Meyers lavender is too sweet
Huh, this was my take too, but I don't much care for lavender as a scent. Luckily lavender is popular enough for there to be a few brands that use it to choose from.

eta: my mother sprays the Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day lavender room freshener on ant trails because she does like the smell and she says "they hate it!"

I can't confirm or deny the efficacy for this use but Mom seems to be having a good time so I'm not going to get too involved.

Would this be where to post the porcelain things on one's welsh dresser? Or is that less "adult novelty" and more "biddy"?
Likewise, would this be where to post the curio cabinet collection, or is the Gobbocore thread more suited?
