If it is to be a functional nation, it needs it's economy running as much as its government, which means we need to rebuild the infrastructure we put in there for oil extraction 25 years ago. That will take some time.

Yeah, i saw the statement, that doesn't wave away any concerns though. Why is there no obvious provisional government from the Venezuelan people involved in this? When will a transfer of power from the USA to a stable government happen? How long will this transfer need? Who decides when its "good enough" to hand over? US Congress? Venezuela's congress? The US military? The oil companies? Why would anyone trust the USA to nation build after they have recently catastrophically failed in Afghanistan? Why is there not already a government decided to take over the nation after the United States leaves?

There's a lot of holes here that are completely unanswered that should have had clear answers but weren't. The fact oil companies in America will be involved in this process makes me believe that there will never be an exchange of hands back to a civilian government, and if there is, it'll likely just be something that American elites prop up from the outside as a way of siphoning resources from the country, not a returning government with any level of legitimacy in Venezuela.

All signs really just point towards this legitimate use of power to depose a criminal being used for a convenient colonization attempt so the USA can secure oil. Did everyone just forget Trump's cooperation with oil companies for funding his campaign? Nothing about this post-strike maneuver really seems to point towards anything good for the Venezuelan people, and more cynically for the USA in terms of realpolitik: this is the exact kind of exploitative and dismissive attitude that made the Arab world call the United States a "great Satan" and fueled the kind of hatred that caused the 9/11 terror attack.
