War Trump says Venezuela's Maduro captured after strikes - The U.S. has accused Maduro of running a "narco-state" and rigging an election.

WASHINGTON, Jan 3 (Reuters) - The U.S. has struck Venezuela and captured its President Nicolas Maduro, who has been taken out of the country, President Donald Trump said on Saturday.

The U.S. has not made such a direct intervention in Latin America since the invasion of Panama in 1989 to depose military leader Manuel Noriega.

"The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country," Trump said in a Truth Social post.

There was no immediate confirmation from the Venezuelan government.

The U.S. has accused Maduro of running a "narco-state" and rigging an election. The Venezuelan leader, who succeeded Hugo Chavez to take power in 2013, has said Washington wants to take control of its oil reserves, the largest in the world.

Saddam's Baathist party ran the entire country and murdered any upcoming opposition, leaving a void when he was taken out and requiring democratic traditions be built from scratch
Don’t forget Bush’s top guys dissolved the entire military unceremoniously while not securing all arms and ammunition all while foreign adversaries like Iran and Syria decided to feed jihadists into the mix. If anything this raid was essentially just “Now play nice or we’ll do it again to the next guy”

Lol, lmao even, hearts and minds amirite?

They voted against him and then did nothing, because they had/have no power, there is now an absence of authority.
It's a decisive victory don't get me wrong, but don't be under any 🌈illusions 🌈 that in 10 years this won't be Iraq war tier of "nobody wanted this".
Trump is installing the elected president of Venezuela. The commies can keep crying.

Nigga I wake up and we manage to pull off another Desert Storm but even better cuz we actually took out their leader only 4 and a half years after we went through Millennial/Gen Z Saigon while I was snoozing? What a way to start 2026 the year of the American.

The rubble of what was a (barely functioning but "stable") state apparatus.
The rubble out of a dicatorship where it's leader lived a lavish lifestyle while the citizens ate bones from the trash

You really think there's not gonna be scores to be settled? The country has been a factional autocracy for decades, lots of badly done over victims are now gonna have access to US granted legitimacy, there will be blood and the real rubble is yet to come.
Who's gonna settle the score? The citizens? They'll take on arms to defend their right to starve, have their sisters and mothers raped by SEBIN agents while in custody?

Venezuela doesn't have a proper military... You think some fat fuck with a rifle will take his chances after seeing his capital get blown out in a few hours? The venezuelan people stand to gain everything by complying

Americans don't know what latin american socialism is like, to them, socialism is just someone sperging about pronouns on twatter. To latin americans, it's exile, getting shot in the street, arrested without reason, sudden disappearances, and see your money not being worth a day's bread

Those missiles to them were a bolt from beyond, and i guarantee you a huge weight was lifted from their chests

Principles and morals are great, but if your morals and principles are so inflexible that they get in the way of victory, then what good are they? "Hey, we might have lost to our political rivals and now all our rights are getting stripped from us, our houses are going to illegal aliens, and we're all going to prison for voting for Republicans, but at least we still have our morals and principles, right guys?" Morals and principles are for when you have secured victory and are no longer in danger of losing power to people who want to see you impoverished, dead, and your children raped and trooned out.
What victory? Reclaiming the investments of oil barons? As I have repeatedly said, if this had anything whatsoever to do with drug trafficking, we would go after the cartel queen that's president of Mexico, and has stated that she supports the invasion from the southern border to claim U.S. territory. I am just not buying the narrative here, because the actions do not line up with what is being claimed. None of this stops our houses going to illegal aliens, none of this stops the persecution of Republicans, and yes, I expect the president to actually keep the promises he was elected on. That is not remotely unreasonable.

Morals and principles are for when you have regained a stable, unified, high trust society full of civilized people. Until then, they need to be set aside so you can fight hard and dirty for your culture. Morals and principles mean nothing if you've lose everything else that is important.
If this was the arrest of Gavin Newsom, Tim Walz, Ilhan Omar, Katie Hobbs, or any of so many others, then I would agree, but I fail to see how this is deporting the foreigner browns from America, or arresting the people who enable and fund them. Or did you forget who exactly wants to see us impoverished, dead, and our children raped and trooned out? Seriously, I get wanting to brag about us having the biggest dick around, but this is not in the benefit of the American people. Maduro was a nobody, which is why he got kidnapped so easily.

I don't believe that anybody actually thinks this, either way. The excuse for Trump's bad deportation response is that he has to listen to the judges and respect the "rights" of browns, but I am also supposed to think you guys have abandoned all morals and principles for the sake of victory? Give me a break. This is standard neocon warhawk bullshit dressed up in "they have WMDs!" tier justifications so that rich Americans can recoup their oil investments. I bet you not one single Venezuelan taken in "legally" under Maduro will be sent back home now that the problem is fixed. No victory was achieved here for the American people, and this will not affect any of the issues you brought up.

so why are we wasting millions of dollars to bomb Venezuela again?

1. Because They have oil
2. Because Israel told us to
3. Because we need to show the world how big our dick is
4. Because they are the bad guys and we are the good guys
5. Because they import drugs (mexico next please)
6. Because we need a political puppet that is willing to work with the US and Maduro was just too hostile and working with China and Russia Instead.

In any case, i wish the GOP was this effective in kicking every single brown third worlder illegal from America, but i guess that's not a priority.

Trump slowly dissolving the Communist regimes in South America and pushing out Belt and Road is bad for Americans? How is that not a victory? Trump exposed our "heckin' good neighborinos" of Mexico and Canada are fucking scumbags and we need new foreign allies. Creating a new network of trading partners is one of the most beneficial things Trump could do for America. This is cutting off China's imperial expansion into the western hemisphere and reclaiming economic future of both countries is a wonderful thing both for America and South America.

Cuba's next. Trump is poised to remove Communist regimes in Cuba. We're now on a position to liberate one of the most crucial military spots in this side of the planet for America after over 50 years of Communism. He's cutting off Russia and China with these moves. I don't think people really understand how historic this is.

After Lula started his ridiculous fight with Trump and soiled our commercial relationships with the USA in favor of China, life has gotten shittier and shittier over here

I hope 2026 events leads to Brasil and USA mutual beneficial relations once again. There's no reason to be against South and North America cooperation, there's much to gain on both parts, despite what twitter commies insist on saying
