YT brought a new video (11 days old as of this writing) about BTWH to my attention, laying out much of their old content (mostly ancient teasers which can't be viewed on their dead subreddits anymore since the Discord links all broke) while studiously avoiding mention of the drama which plagued its dev team - it fell to randos in the comment section to bring up stuff like the terrorist interview and AFAIK nobody's mentioned the original founder also being the guy who founded CHAZ - and wishing for its revival, very of this guy. Think this is the first time I've gotten to watch an actually rather lengthy video (19 mins) that goes into significant detail on this particular dead mod.

Gets better than that, the furthest right wing you could get at the national level would basically have been generals William Westmoreland (to be depicted as a retarded puppet of either the more traditional American deep state, or the American deep state with greater 'Christian nationalist' trappings) & Edwin Walker (exaggerated from a segregationist Southern conservative to a full-on military fascist who would go right back into 'Nam, invade Cuba and push for WW3 if he won the 'normal' way, or open death camps if he won with support from neo-Nazi types) or CSAL (the 'everything I hate about American right-wingers as I imagine them' strawman faction & designated failstate).

Meanwhile as that video cheerfully reminded me, the left would have at least one outright utopian faction in Fred Hampton's Rainbow Coalition, which could somehow simultaneously have a multiethnic alliance of Chicago street gangs forming the starting core of its muscle vs. the Chicago Police Department AND get support from suburban whites (see the 'Socialism in Suburbia' event in that teaser), even though the suburbs of cities as heavily Democratic as Chicago were conservative, Republican-leaning bastions in this era and literally one of the biggest reasons for suburbia's existence in the first place was inner-city whites with money wanting to get the fuck away from the niggers, beaners, etc. who were well in the process of ruining said cities. Also even worse fags like the Weather Underground, which was totally down with butchering white babies for being born white, would have been treated sympathetically with 'OK they may be a bit extreme but Amerikkka is so evil it deserves them!' kid gloves.

And in hindsight, the Greensboro 'Massacre' (as Wikipedo calls it) was basically a proto-Kenosha. Right down to leftards being the ones who were spoiling for a fight from the get-go; aggressively antagonizing the right-wing force and instigating the hostilities; forcing the (at that time actually far-)right to open fire in self-defense; said right-wingers getting off the hook because no matter what their politics may or may not have been, they were found to indeed have just defended themselves; and buckbreaking the surviving commies so hard that the agitators responsible for the skirmish, the Maoist Communist Workers' Party, gave up on violent revolution (as surely as Saint Kyle put an end to the Summer of Love) and completely fell apart a few years later. Truly the most realistic outcome to any 'revolution' attempted by these cunts back in the day.

Like the aforementioned Rockwell, Republican politicians like Jim Rhodes (who was actually politically quite moderate, pro-welfare and even pro-civil rights for blacks, though all that was overshadowed by Kent State and him being made out to be this psycho fascist who shot the students for no good reason in popular memory) or even Fred Hampton (the real man who actually got shit done on the streets of Chicago, not the flawless & saintly messiah figure the left elevated him into post-assassination which is basically a huge wishcasting project with no connection to reality).

Unfortunately it had to be handled by delusional trannies who consider the mod no more than a soapbox for their own demented ideology (which would've gotten them laughed at or shot even by a good number of the '60s wannabe revolutionaries they idolized) and an opportunity for wish fulfillment, and in the end they couldn't even deliver that due to their own laziness & infighting. It smacks of what TNO America has degenerated into, all the interesting directions in which a post-Axis victory USA could've gone are getting flushed down the toilet by the troons running that show because they absolutely can't get over their 'Amerikkka bad, Christianity bad, Amerikkka is the real Nazi, etc.' hangups too.

I probably mentioned it/posted the relevant Discord screencaps at some point way back in this thread before the BTWH devs finally admitted defeat, but they rewoorked the Burning California scenario a fair bit before the end (instead of, y'know, actually trying to implement it even as just a demo). Off the top of my head, I recall:

• Solanas was removed, she got sent to NYC (which she could take over). The Women's Revolutionary Army was going to be led by Jane Fonda instead.
• Maulana Karenga, the inventor of Kwanzaa who got in some shit IRL for smackin' his bitches around, was replaced as the leader of revolutionary LA by Angela Davis (who got moved southward from Oakland).
• Harvey Milk's fag army was not actually a unifier and existed only to get absorbed by the California Federation (the main left-wing Cali tag, would have been BTWH's equivalent to TFR's APLA basically) or crushed by the right-wing tags.
• Hal Moore, leader of the Fort Ord Clique, was removed from all political leadership roles & demoted to just a general in Nationalist California, which seems to have become their main right-wing Californian faction. This even though he was probably the most wholesome leader on the first Burning Cali map, being a very honorable & successful commander in the infamously dirty Vietnam War to the point where he became friends with the enemy commander he beat at Ia Drang and also successfully curbed both racism & drug addiction among his men IRL.
• The same thing happened to LeMay, last I heard he too had become only a general within Nationalist California and couldn't take over that tag except as a fucking failstate. Nat-Cali itself could choose between Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Sam Yorty (who, as far as the devs were concerned, were respectively Literally Hitler, Turbo-Hitler and Giga-Mecha-Hitler) for its actual leader.
• Reagan doesn't start as governor of California as had been the historical case, some lame liberal Republican named George Christopher would instead be the Cali governor at the start of the game, but to own this particularly hated arch-chud the devs implied that he caused the defeat of the legitimate state gov't by launching a recall effort/coup attempt against Christopher with covert backing from the military gov't in Denver, fatally undermining them at a critical juncture.

For some reason I could never get into Hoi4 youtube. I can play this game for an ungodly amount of time but watching someone else play it feels extremely tedious and boring.

Correct, I vividly remember this one because of how insane it was on its face. They were shittalking Chappie James, who was not only a very highly decorated pilot that flew with Robin Olds (fought in both WW2 and the Vietnam War, racked up a total of 16 kills, and was literally the #1 wing commander on either side of 'Nam - specifically they massacred a bunch of MiG-21s, which had been among the deadliest & newest aircraft given to the North Vietnamese by the Soviets, together while taking zero losses) but also the first ever black 4-star general. All this because James was a staunch patriot and hated niggers like H. Rap Brown, instead of rioting & burning down the cities his forefathers built up with such 'brothas' from the 'hood. Another case of modern American progressives managing to be more racist than George Lincoln Rockwell himself...

The Ohio State University had a fantastic article on this subject dating from 1996. Turns out that before he started bathing in the blood of hippies, Rhodes was actually a very moderate & non-racist politician who cultivated black support starting from his days as Mayor of Columbus by providing them with various public services, most welcome of all being regular garbage collection (before he became mayor, the black neighborhoods of Columbus had gone without trash pickup for 12 years). He cracked down on police corruption and gained the support of a liberal local black newspaper for firing a crooked cop that stole from prisoners in 1944. Given what he would be best known for, he also ironically made big investments into youth programs, parks & playgrounds for the kids, etc.

It's further worth noting that as late as 1968 (just two years before Kent State) Rhodes endorsed Nelson Rockefeller, the most liberal candidate in the Republican primary, over either Nixon or Reagan (the most conservative candidate that year).

I wish this had been the case, but from what I've been able to glean, it absolutely isn't. The devs have admitted to getting 0% work done in 5 years, and that besides taking screenshots & coding up loc for their toozers, most of what they've actually done is 'gathering documentation' (collecting articles, inevitably mostly or entirely heavily biased towards their viewpoints, and circlejerking over how cool the OG 1960s-70s revolutionaries/how evil and bad their fascist Amerikkkan oppressors were). If they even still have a Git to leak, and it does, there's a better than even chance that it would just be a completely broken pile of shit similar to Spartakus: World in Revolution.
