This repeats until an external force stops the momentum. But since the left has decided it's a moral failing to disagree with them or even listen to people who disagree with them, the momentum can't be stopped by normal methods.

This is literally how you got lynch mobs and the like back in the day. It's how you get moral panics. It's how you get mass hysteria. And it's how you get "trans kids" and the fringe starting to talk about "MAPs."

I don't know how you shatter this doom loop the culture is doing, but we'd better figure out how to do so soon. Unfortunately, one of the first things the left targeted was mental health and the experts that would do things like cult deprogramming.

At some point the cost of stopping the loop from the outside becomes roughly equal to allowing it to destabilize and explode, at which point internal factors act to stabilize a new course (hopefully with less doom). The usual trouble is that by the time the threat of the loop becomes obvious there is no easy or neat way to solve the issue, and most societies don't have the strength of will to do what is needed.
