The room contains various works of art that look normal at first, but have something subtly wrong with them like legs pointing in the wrong direction or a woman's mouth filled with hair. The character doesn't view anything like devils or satanic symbols, yet he could sense something deeply evil about what the art represented even though he wasn't a Christian.
