Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed by their son, Nick, multiple sources confirm to PEOPLE.

On Sunday, Dec. 14, at about 3:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was called to a home to provide medical aid, the LAFD told PEOPLE. Upon arrival, they found a man, 78, and a woman, 68, dead. Sources confirm the victims were Rob and Michele.

Rob is a director, producer and actor whose career includes some of Hollywood’s most beloved films — from his 1984 directorial debut, This Is Spinal Tap, to Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally... (1989), Misery (1990) and A Few Good Men (1992).

He first became famous for his role as Mike on the Norman Lear TV sitcom All in the Family.

Rob was born in the Bronx, N.Y., in 1947. His father was legendary comedian Carl Reiner and his mother was actress and singer Estelle Lebost.

Rob and Michele met when Rob directed When Harry Met Sally, and the couple married in 1989 before having three children.

Previously, Rob was married to the late Penny Marshall, who died in 2018 at age 75 of complications from diabetes.

In a 2016 interview with PEOPLE, Nick spoke about his years-long struggle with drug addiction, which began in his early teens and eventually left him living on the streets. He said he cycled in and out of rehab beginning around age 15, but as his addiction escalated, he drifted farther from home and spent significant stretches homeless in multiple states.

Nick told PEOPLE that the chaotic period of addiction — including nights and sometimes weeks sleeping outside — later became the basis for the semi-autobiographical film Being Charlie, which he co-wrote.

“Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in L.A. and being around my family," Nick told PEOPLE at the time.

An aerial view of a Brentwood home where paramedics and police responded Sunday afternoon after reports that 2 individuals were found dead inside.

Two people were found dead Sunday afternoon inside a Brentwood home owned by director and actor Rob Reiner, multiple law enforcement sources told NBCLA.

The LA Fire Department said a man and a woman were found deceased inside, approximately 78 and 68 years old.

LAPD Robbery Homicide Division detectives were assigned to the case. Several other LAPD officials said they were aware of the investigation but could not share any information.

There is a large police presence at the home Sunday evening.

LAFD paramedics were called to the home on Chadbourne Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

Within a few minutes, LAPD officers were dispatched to the home for a report of an, "ambulance death investigation," which is LAPD terminology when officers are called by firefighters to the discovery of a death.

Neighbors said Reiner and his wife live in the home, and property records indicate they own the home.

Ostatnio edytowane:
Thing is that he was probably too busy seething about Trump and Trumpism to pay attention to his own boy.

It's like what Jordan Peterson often says. If you want to lecture people about politics, you've got to clean your room first.
Nick Reiner is in his 30s. He's a grown man responsible for his own choices. Having had an addict/enabler pair in my family, though (the enabler died recently, old smoker), the sad thing about watching that dynamic unfold is that it's borderline impossible for a parent to do what their addict offspring needs and just cut them off completely. There's a good chance they don't recover and just end up homeless under a bridge. Most people just can't bear to see that happen to their kids.

Which is why support groups like Al-Anon exist for the families and loved ones of addicts: all your instincts will be wrong in reacting to their addiction, and you need people to help you set healthy, helpful boundaries.

Sadly, it seems like Rob and Michele did exactly what they should have done, and this was still the result.
Unrelated I've always wondered this, why do people hate james woods? I like him as an actor and he's funny on xitter. But everywhere else people say he's bad, and idk why?
He's conservative and not quiet about it.

In general

1.He had a very public break up with Sean Young in the late 80s where she accused him of physical abuse

2. He's a method actor, means he's a tad bit insufferable to be around on set

3. He basically pissed off a lot of people in Hollywood, gaming the system when a film he did (Salvador) that flopped due to the studio burying it because fuck you that's why, got aired non stop on Z Channel (an LA only pay channel that catered to the Hollywood elite) the month everyone was voting on Oscar nominees resulting in Woods getting a best actor nomination. It was rumored that the station did this as a quid pro quo payment to Woods after Woods gave the station the unlisted telephone number/address of famed director Sergio Leone, as Z Channel was trying to get in touch with him to securing the TV rights to the original unbutchered version of Once upon A time in America.

4.He wisely invested all of his money made in Hollywood during his prime years, doubling his money and making it so he could do whatever the fuck he wanted role wise

5. Made Disney put into his contract that he couldn't be replaced as Hades in any post Hercules Disney project involving the character unless he declined to come back and do the role. Which was unheard of at the time.

6. During the Obama years Woods came out of the closet as a conservative, was super critical of Obama, and later was an open Trump supporter.
To be honest, it was just number 6, nobody cares about the first 5.

Saw a lot of people on this thread here bringing up what happened to Charlie Kirk - though the motives were different, in terms of what actually happened to them, how Reiner went out was scarier than Charlie's. I think Charlie died almost immediately after he was shot in the neck, but Rob was probably scared out of his mind as his son was attacking him and his wife. Rob likely felt betrayal in his last moments, just sad no matter how you look at it.
Unfortunately, AI revenge memes will likely be created to disrespect Rob's family. While Rob was an adult, his death was undeserved. It remains to be seen whether Hollywood will address his son's drug abuse and whether California will reform its drug crime laws. But knowing Gaban, he won't learn lessons from Rob's death and somehow blame Trump like he paid Nick to kill his own father, somehow. The internet is going to make some insane theories about it.

I hope he and his wife suffered when they died.
U are so cool and freaking edgy bro. Want a sticker?
I wonder if he thought of Trump one hour before he died it would be hilarious even his last tweet was about Trump what a loser
Robs last thoughts were probably "I can't believe Trump brainwashed my son into this"
To be fair , Kirk died with per capita on his mind.(The shooter was a huwhite male)

It sounds like the parents did what they could to get their son treatment to the point of cutting him off (resulting in bouts of homelessness). Claimed back in 2015 he’d been to rehab 18 times by his mid-twenties. The other two kids are apparently successful and normal. Sometimes you can do everything “right” and still get the worst outcome.

Grasped at my neck reading that. Awful terrible way to go. Jesus.

I'm not sad he's dead and I think the world is a better place without him, but I'm still not going to support murder. The son deserves the death penalty for killing his own father. Especially since the motive was being a useless druggie piece of shit.

I guess he spinal tapped out. It's going to be hilarious to find out he got killed for molesting his kid and this was revenge.

I mean, I'm a little sad he's dead. Not for his political takes. Though I will say that I am skeptical that he shifted significant numbers of people to the retarded side. He's one of those ideologues you only listen to because you're already on his side. To shift people, you need to express empathy for the side they're already on, which he was probably incapable of.

I'm sad he's dead because he was a great filmmaker and we've lost someone genuinely talented. Like some of the younger people here might not remember this, but the American film industry used to actually churn out quality entertainment. It wasn't always slop like it is today.

Despite being a political cocksucker, Rob Reiner actually put out legitimate art and I think we're all poorer for his loss.

Now when I go to the theater, I'm just dealing with AI generated cgi slop or European art film bullshit.

The theater bar is way more important to the film going experience in the past few years.

Wasn’t Rob Reiner a devoted libtard? I’m glad his junky son killed him. I hope something similar happens to all the Hollywood wanna-be “”Elite”””.
