Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed by their son, Nick, multiple sources confirm to PEOPLE.

On Sunday, Dec. 14, at about 3:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was called to a home to provide medical aid, the LAFD told PEOPLE. Upon arrival, they found a man, 78, and a woman, 68, dead. Sources confirm the victims were Rob and Michele.

Rob is a director, producer and actor whose career includes some of Hollywood’s most beloved films — from his 1984 directorial debut, This Is Spinal Tap, to Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally... (1989), Misery (1990) and A Few Good Men (1992).

He first became famous for his role as Mike on the Norman Lear TV sitcom All in the Family.

Rob was born in the Bronx, N.Y., in 1947. His father was legendary comedian Carl Reiner and his mother was actress and singer Estelle Lebost.

Rob and Michele met when Rob directed When Harry Met Sally, and the couple married in 1989 before having three children.

Previously, Rob was married to the late Penny Marshall, who died in 2018 at age 75 of complications from diabetes.

In a 2016 interview with PEOPLE, Nick spoke about his years-long struggle with drug addiction, which began in his early teens and eventually left him living on the streets. He said he cycled in and out of rehab beginning around age 15, but as his addiction escalated, he drifted farther from home and spent significant stretches homeless in multiple states.

Nick told PEOPLE that the chaotic period of addiction — including nights and sometimes weeks sleeping outside — later became the basis for the semi-autobiographical film Being Charlie, which he co-wrote.

“Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in L.A. and being around my family," Nick told PEOPLE at the time.

An aerial view of a Brentwood home where paramedics and police responded Sunday afternoon after reports that 2 individuals were found dead inside.

Two people were found dead Sunday afternoon inside a Brentwood home owned by director and actor Rob Reiner, multiple law enforcement sources told NBCLA.

The LA Fire Department said a man and a woman were found deceased inside, approximately 78 and 68 years old.

LAPD Robbery Homicide Division detectives were assigned to the case. Several other LAPD officials said they were aware of the investigation but could not share any information.

There is a large police presence at the home Sunday evening.

LAFD paramedics were called to the home on Chadbourne Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

Within a few minutes, LAPD officers were dispatched to the home for a report of an, "ambulance death investigation," which is LAPD terminology when officers are called by firefighters to the discovery of a death.

Neighbors said Reiner and his wife live in the home, and property records indicate they own the home.

I couldn't fucking stand this guy, I only read maybe a half dozen or so of his infamous tweets but that was enough for me, he was just that unlikeable. When I first saw this headline I thought it might have been a murder suicide.

Saw a lot of people on this thread here bringing up what happened to Charlie Kirk - though the motives were different, in terms of what actually happened to them, how Reiner went out was scarier than Charlie's. I think Charlie died almost immediately after he was shot in the neck, but Rob was probably scared out of his mind as his son was attacking him and his wife. Rob likely felt betrayal in his last moments, just sad no matter how you look at it.
fr Kirk was courageous and was holding the mic even when he died and that bitch reiner lived in a gated community and said his ass political takes from the comfort of his mansion to just get killed by his druggie son

I wonder if he thought of Trump one hour before he died it would be hilarious even his last tweet was about Trump what a loser

Robs last thoughts were probably "I can't believe Trump brainwashed my son into this"

Being able to separate the art from the artist is a great skill. This Is Spinal Tap is an awesome movie, as were some of his other works. Thank you for your contributions to film.
Nooooo! You have to cope and say "I never actually liked anything he did actually!" Like Harry Potter/Rowling fans! WTF man you can't simply appreciate something without dragging it through the rancid garden of culture war!!!!!

Unrelated I've always wondered this, why do people hate james woods? I like him as an actor and he's funny on xitter. But everywhere else people say he's bad, and idk why?

In general

1.He had a very public break up with Sean Young in the late 80s where she accused him of physical abuse

2. He's a method actor, means he's a tad bit insufferable to be around on set

3. He basically pissed off a lot of people in Hollywood, gaming the system when a film he did (Salvador) that flopped due to the studio burying it because fuck you that's why, got aired non stop on Z Channel (an LA only pay channel that catered to the Hollywood elite) the month everyone was voting on Oscar nominees resulting in Woods getting a best actor nomination. It was rumored that the station did this as a quid pro quo payment to Woods after Woods gave the station the unlisted telephone number/address of famed director Sergio Leone, as Z Channel was trying to get in touch with him to securing the TV rights to the original unbutchered version of Once upon A time in America.

4.He wisely invested all of his money made in Hollywood during his prime years, doubling his money and making it so he could do whatever the fuck he wanted role wise

5. Made Disney put into his contract that he couldn't be replaced as Hades in any post Hercules Disney project involving the character unless he declined to come back and do the role. Which was unheard of at the time.

6. During the Obama years Woods came out of the closet as a conservative, was super critical of Obama, and later was an open Trump supporter.

I mean that's WHY you got your pink triangle, for openly supporting Nick Fuentes macing that old lady, because you always talk about "da Jews"

I'm pointing out if you want to hate a Jew and celebrate their demise, this is probably your best chance to do it and sound MORE acceptable than celebrating macing little old ladies. As he's disliked enough in this thread it'd be far more acceptable.
