I was interested in his excitement at the resurgence of this behaviour that was in direct response to his lament that LOCALS was not as it was before. He was much more active in the chat and animated on stream when engaging with this. I think it is really telling that this is what excites and motivates him.

There is always going to be some arbitrariness to any “award.”

If you ask yourself what a lolcow is, you will see that current Rekieta is just not producing many lols anymore.

People like iDubbbz, Greer, and even Maldavious Figtree gave me way more lols this year than Nick did.

At this point, Rekieta feels less like a lolcow and more like a disgustcow. Every time he shows up, the reaction I feel is nausea and revulsion, plus the vague hope that he eventually ropes himself. Quite a distance from a lol.

I agree it should be like a "Lifetime Achievement" award, but the underlying idea that one lolcow should not dominate the Lowcow of the Year Award year after year allows for more variation in the recipients and makes it a more active competition with cross-pollination of users.

Plus don't you think it's unjust that the top .1% of all lolcows receive 99% of the LOTY awards? The Lolcow proleteriate should have an opportunity to compete too.

If they’re retirement age, they would have started working in the 70s or 80s. At that time, every male dominated (working class) workplace would be adorned with pinup girls, nude calendars and the like.
So in a way they’re just continuing a tradition.
