Dear ComicFury,

First off. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Doug, username Torteh Lini. I am one of the earlier members of ComicFury, and have been rather unreliable when it comes to my involvement with the CF community. So in case you might be wondering what gives me the right to say what I'm about to say, nothing does. However, I must get this out in the open before my conscience implodes. Moving on.

Many of us are aware of the derogatory comments and criticisms the user known as Jennfer A. Jay has received over the past few months regarding her artwork and grammar on her webcomic, Jennfer's Show. Many of us are also aware that time and again, various CF members come to comfort Jennfer, dismissing these comments as the work of trolls and encouraging her to continue said webcomic.

Honestly, I can't take this anymore.

Now I cannot say I am not without my own opinions. Deep down, I do believe Jennfer's artwork is horrible. I do believe her grammar is awful. I do feel like Jennfer is spamming several threads constantly, slowly driving away other users from posting in said threads.

However, that does not give me the right to stop her, or belittle her in an attempt to weaken her self-esteem so much that she eventually stops. My own artwork used to be atrocious. In fact, all of us at one point or another started out where Jennfer is right now. But treating her as though she doesn't have the strength to stand on her own two feet isn't right, either.

For those of you who come in Jennfer's defense, ask yourselves, where do your intentions lie? I know most of you come to her aid out of the goodness of your heart, but some of you may have other reasons. Perhaps to feel good about yourself? Plausible. Perhaps to protect another user who you feel cannot hold her own without regard for taking that user's ability into question? Also plausible.

For those who heartlessly criticize another person's work without any suggestion on how to redeem and improve said person's work, remember this. Anonymous may not forgive. Anonymous may not forget. But when in reality you're not really "Anonymous", then prepare for karma to nip you in the backside. 'Cause in the end, it always does.

This letter is not meant to start a flame war. Only to prevent one.

I never planned to be here where I am now. I was born with many hidden handicaps and a family that liked to move because they couldn’t cope. The reason we first came up here was because my dad dreamed to find gold in 1974. I was young, going to school, what set me back from learning was moving around.

I thought at first the Yukon would be it. But after a year and half we moved. We came back in 1976 and back and forth a few times to farmland in BC and back to the Yukon. I never had a root for sticking somewhere until finally it was one of my dreams to be a cartoonist. I wanted to be famous. I wanted to go back to school. So in 1986, I went back to school and went back to Yukon Learn and then things started going good for me.

Then my family wanted to move down south and I said no. I put my foot down. I had a summer job and I was doing pretty good on my own. I had to prove myself. Then, when they came back about a year and half later I fell into their lives and went back down south and started over again. At first it was good but my family started to be different and it was rough. It was a small town and it was hard. I was in and out of welfare, up and down until 1987 when my mom and dad split up. And the main family came here and ever since then I’ve settled down.

Little did I know that at my next job my body couldn’t take it anymore. With my carpal tunnel syndrome my arms would get tired and that was my first let down and then I started to be myself. I came out of the closet, changed my name and that is who I am now. Even the name I had, my family didn’t like it. I didn’t want to be labeled on one side of the family or the other. I stuck to it. I went Outside, did my treatments and started over again.

I'm with fine company in that call out video. Couple of things things though @Thomas Jay Wasserberg.

1.Fucking admit my wrist deep in a dog joke made you laugh because I saw that it did.

This is exactly the thing. Miss Jen looks like someone's nice auntie and Tommy looks... like a crazy old fool that does NOT even remotely pass. Plus Miss Jen is a kind and witty person who makes comics that make a lot of people smile. Tommy doesn't make anything but trouble wherever he goes.
