Depending on where you're at, riding the bus is actually pretty fucking expensive

Just to illustrate an example of how fucked the pricing for public transport is at least here in the Netherlands (I dont know how expensive it is in amerimuttland.): the distance from the bus stop to the bus station where I live is about 4.5 KM. Here is every major form of transport, how long it takes and how much it costs to get to the station from that exact position:

Bicycle: Average speed of the average person on a bicycle is 15 KM/h, this means about 18 minutes of travel time.

Car: Road to get to the station is about 50 KM/h with some stretches of 30 km/h, let's make it 40 km/h on average, 8 minutes, probably closer to 11 with traffic lights and other stops taken into account. To be as charitable as possible, lets imagine the car takes 11 liters per 100 KM.
1 dollar, 12 cents

Bus: Takes about 14 minutes according to google maps (And I'll trust that), and the price of the average ticket costs:
2,70 dollars

And all of this ramps up greatly as the distances increase. I don't think if she was trying to save money that she would be taking the bus, especially as simple Ian can just drive her around at a fraction of the cost. She'd probably be using a bike if that was the case. I'd sooner say this implies she is trying to get more distant from ian.
