I have a question for Canadians regarding her healthcare in Canada. I know rule number one.... But she said that she isn't currently eligible for healthcare and it will take time. What could she have done on her many trips back to Canada to ensure that she didn't lose her health care? After all, both Kuwait and Syria treated her as a tourist. So why couldn't she simply claim that she'd been traveling? Is it simply that she didn't keep it up and is now screwed until x amount of time?

She's dumb or lying. In the past if you left Ontario for an extended period, you would have to maintain residency for 6 months to be eligible again. But that changed during COVID. She can renew it right now, she just needs to go in person to a Service Ontario center, which she also needs to do to renew her driver's license.

Apparently it's okay to pluck/shave eyebrows only if it's a unibrow.

Other than that any modification to eyebrows (shaving, plucking, waxing/reshaping or thinning brows) are not allowed. This applies to both women and men, but mostly women more because I've seen some gnarly hair on Muslim men lol.

However, you can remove a minimum amount of hair "that causes deformity" or "excessively long" hair.

OHIP wouldn’t necessarily know she’s been out of the province for longer than she’s allowed. But, if mail was returned, or her card expired, or *ahem* someone reported her for fraud? She’d lose her coverage.

She can reapply without having to wait for the residency requirement to be met. But that doesn’t mean she actually has coverage. Just that they’ll accept the application.

If she simply let it expire, then she’d be reactivated right away. But if she was determined to be ineligible because she was not residing in Ontario, then she’d have to wait.

And I do recall (many many months ago. Maybe even over a year ago) seeing some Twitter exchanges where someone was sharing the link to report OHIP fraud, and images of her dox from here.

If the ministry of health got a report - or several reports - that she was living in another country, then they’d be cutting her off.

I know someone who was investigated for this. He had never lived anywhere else, or even traveled out of country, but supposedly someone reported him. It took months to resolve it. They did a thorough investigation. He had to provide records of employment, rent and utility payments, bank records… he even provided receipts from grocery stores. They still didn’t believe him. He had no coverage at all during the investigation. Once they determined that he was eligible, they reimbursed him what he has to pay for those months. At the start of it, when he found out he was cut off, they sent him a bill for costs they’d paid during the period they were claiming he was ineligible, and sent it to collections. It took another year to get that removed from his credit report.

If someone did report her, and they investigate her, the ministry could pursue her for any health care she received during her previous trips back to Canada for birthday gifts and ER visits. And they may make her wait until the eligibility period has passed to make sure she’s actually living here. The waiting period for applications was ended during COVID, but an investigation is a different scenario.
