Forgoing certain luxuries to save money is wise and I don't disagree, but I would also ask the people offering that as a sole solution a question:

Did boomers have to eschew every hobby, vacation, or frivolous purchase to obtain a high standard of living in a functional and accessible economy?

Maybe in Flint, MI or Gary, OH

125k is the price of a lot in some places . There is not one livable house on the market for 150k.
There are no less than a dozen houses under 150kish within 15 minutes of where I used to live a decade or so ago. All very nice homes, well beyond what folks call a starter home.

here is one for 135k, very suitable place

perfectly good spot for a family with a kid or two, nice big garage and a work shop. almost an acre and a half of land.

I don't disagree with you, in theory, these places used to be all over the place for 50-75k, and they've almost doubled in price in a little under 15 years.

No but boomers are a Catch-22. If you decide old people don't deserve to spend the last few years they have in relative luxury and just bleed them dry to keep the youth going, people will value youth more. This isn't always a good thing as we're already discovering. If you have nothing to lose or look forward to then fucked up things start happening, the young people who benefit today from "bleeding the boomers" would dread growing old and realizing what their inevitable fate is. There's also the fact that any policy like that would be demonstrably taking from white people to give to browns and illegals, most jobs nowadays go to H-1B scum.

And since you know the boomers will lie about this, you can point to the implosion/total disappearance of all of the family vacation destinations as the millennials started graduating high school and then again as the boomers left late middle age and physical mobility became a factor for them.

We need to kill people like you.
Oh cool, I've never actually witnessed the Curse of the Broom destroy an account in real time before. Just like my wholesome marvel movies, only instead of the green goblin mask luring someone to the path of violence, it's janny burnout luring someone to the path of terminal Asperger's.

I haven't seen too many people propose bleeding the boomers, but I see a metric TON of boomers directly/indirectly demanding that younger people work longer, for less, in worse conditions in order to keep the boomers in the style they are accustomed to.

Boomers were living in a better time where practically the entire world was recovering from WW2 and the US was the top manufacturing country that had to complete with the Soviets. Boomers were also paid far more once you adjust for inflation and such.

The unfortunate truth is that the boomers exported all the manufacturing and other countries have regained their foothold so now we live in an economically multipolar world. That being said, the US is still doing good compared to Europe or virtually anywhere else.

I am allowed to show my displeasure, you know. I've not said anything illegal. If you think there aren't certain groups of population we would do better without (like, for example, ones endlessly shilling for down instead of up) then you are crazy. I've not threatened to kill the user.

Well let's hear it then. Do you think he's wrong? Was the baby boomer era of mindless luxury just an anomaly in the grand scheme of things? The more time passes the more I agree with the notion.

That's wonderful.

I'm sure there are plenty of homes in Niggerville USA or Bumfuck Nowhere that fall under the $150,000 price point, but anywhere where there are both actual people and jobs you aren't going to find anything below 300k.

Denying reality has never been a successful strategy. Pissing down someones leg and telling them it's rain is how you get people to fucking hate you, and that's all that's been happening for the past 30 years.
but you need to live in the country and not the bug man hives.
That's great, if you already have money. But for the vast majority of people you are going to have to live where there are jobs. Most people don't have this luxury.

No, I said that he should die because I agree with him. I'm somewhat of a tsundere, don't you know.

You think I just want to watch movies of yesteryear where a husband and wife with kids can just up and buy a house in a modest community?
Actually, this brings up a better point.

In the movie Mildred Pierce, Mildred is a waitress and restaurant owner. She and her daughters lived in a beach house in Malibu, California.

Now, with Mildred having two children and being a business owner, that house was apprised at around $70,000. Now, this isn't accounting for Veda's expensive, spoiled tastes. She even had a caretaker.

See my point?

Oh, and this is what Mildred's household looked like:
