I’ll say this about the treasury secretary’s warning on the economy if the shutdown doesn’t stop tells- he’s playing the card that should bother everyone - the US economy despite its wealth entirely is dependent on US government spending to trickle through and power it. If the US government doesn’t have debt and pump trillions into the economy which then 3-5 x’s as it trickles, the economy is fucked.

He’s saying the economy won’t just grow less, he is saying it could destroy it.

To be perfectly clear, I understand the practicality of what you're saying. I'm a penny pinching scrooge myself. I'm objecting to your attitude. The fact so many American are being priced out of their hometowns by boomers and foreigners should make you see red. You shouldn't dismiss it as just a matter of fact.
It's not even about having a McMansion; it's about being afforded the fruits of your labor through hard work that allows you to own a piece of American soil to achieve the American Dream of prosperity, independence and stability. A house is more than just a residence, it's a statement of one's stake for investment. Are there drawbacks? Yes. Should everybody own a house? Not necessarily. But it's a shame that despite the relative increased spending power of today, not many Americans CAN just buy/own a house without being tackled through absurd interest rates, priced out slumlords, gentrification and lack of care for property.

Went on reddit to see what they thought of the 50 year mortage, they are to busy breaking new ground over there for such small potatoes

Its like watching a monkey use a stick to try and fish

"its evolving"

Wyświetl załącznik 8147372

but the it falls out of the tree and spears itself on the stick

"Ahhh, swing and a miss"
Every day I thank God that for as stupid as Republicans are, at least they aren't as stupid as Redditors.

What Trump should do is say that he's collecting on the PPP loans, with interest, on those that have downsized, outsourced, or hired H1-Bs.
I want my promised $2000 stimulus check. That TCM isn't going to pay itself.

You think I just want to watch movies of yesteryear where a husband and wife with kids can just up and buy a house in a modest community? No, I want the ability to do that NOW.

I'll say this again in other words, this is the end stage of the financialization economy. A zombie economy.

BTW for everyone keeping track at home today is day 40, its bad enough we got the senate working on a Sunday. Previously longest was 35 days so we are swinging for the fences

Hahaha I love how they act like Trump going to a game is relevant.
"HOW DARE HE NOT STAND IN THE SENATE CHAMBER AND YELL AT THEM FOR HOURS?! DOESN'T HE KNOW HOW A FILIBUSTER WORKS?!"
I fucking wish a filibuster forced people to actually stand there and talk non-stop. The fact that they can declare one and just go home is fucking retarded.

Found this colourized version of a scene from Charlie Chaplin's "Modern Times" a few days ago. We've seen the factory this takes place in a thousand times. It's just in our modern times it's abandoned, all the windows smashed, all the machinery sold for scrap or rusted. In our modern times it's the set of a horror movie rather than a place of work.

All that stuff adds up. Eating out once a month, plus drinks, equals a certain amount of money yearly that could be saved. Don't even get started on people's expenses on alcohol, cigarettes, and weed. People do not budget and, when they do, they have one of two reactions: either they realize how much money they piss away and start to save more, or they have a tantrum about how they need these expenses to stay happy. That's fine, you can spend your money how you please, but you don't then get to bitch about how you don't have any money because you spent it all.
I'm reading this thread laughing my ass off at people who are seething about having to sacrifice for a house and not going out to eat, not getting toys, etc.

If you took a lefty, programmed them with the same exact rationale, and pitted them against the people making these arguments then suddenly these people will talk about how entitled these leftists are.

point I'm making is, that this notion of nobly sacrificing your entire life just to afford a home eventually is just repackaged slave morality.

No, it's the classic marshmallow test. Save for something better in the long term or eat it for the short term pleasure.

You have zero idea what slavery is when you're complaining that a job where you have benefits and a guaranteed paycheck where you can choose what to spend it on.

Put off kids as long as possible, spend nothing on luxuries, and move away from all family and friends to a foreign state to become an atomized economic unit.
You think Pablo the field worker or Ganesh the truck driver came to the US to work because he wanted to? They send 90 percent of their paycheck back home in remittances so that they can buy a house one day in their third world shithole or fund a business venture.

You're demanding extremely specific circumstances and giving up when you don't get them.

I don't know, it would be fun to make them listen to me read Lord of the Rings.
