Most employers find ways to get rid of dead weight, even in the most protected sectors. If they aren't actively in that process, you are performing you job adqeuately. And honestly I don't think most employers deserve more than adequacy from their employees.

So far this year we've had 2 rounds of lay offs, and then a return to the office order. Right now its just 3 days a week but next year they're upping to 4. We lost a lot of good people too, its not like they're cutting dead weight. A lot of my coworkers think it had to do with the Trump admin and him trying to force companies back to the office so all that real estate that hasn't really been used since Covid gets amortized, but I think this would've happened no matter what. Our CEO is a massive retard who can't help but make controversial decisions that fuck everyone over in the long run, only for the PM's, marketing, even HR to get blamed and laid off despite having nothing to do with the products.

All in all its a bad time to be working in corporate America, the best advice I can give is: have a new job lined up WHILE YOU ARE ALREADY WORKING! Being employed makes you ten times more attractive and valuable to another company looking to potentially hire you.

Starting a business is generally a horrible idea, unless you're getting back way more than you're investing into it. My wife has Etsy seller account and it brings in an extra 200+ plus a month in addition to our regular income. Relatively low effort but high return for what it is.

And please, for the love of god, even if you love cooking, and making food for people, don't ever, EVER open a restaurant. You will be closed within 5 years and drowning in debt.

Trump has caused so many problems with international business. I'm not going to PL but its frustrating that a foreign leader's foibles ripple so far. Like other businesses we are now excluding US collaborators and going elsewhere because keeping them excludes us from working with whatever country is on his shitlist this week. Great for the US economy.

I don't care about the politics, I'm just offering perspective from his impact on a foreign company. with many international collaborations

Dear customer; I'm sorry I've apparently messed up your order twice now. I understand this reflects poorly on me and that the fault is only my own and I will do better in the future. However, I would appreciate it if you brought the incorrect order to me so I could remake it for you instead of calling my boss.

But seriously if I'm fucking up I'd really prefer to be told to my face, even if rudely, so I can fix shit and remember to check myself better. I fully understand that this is, in fact, my fault fot not doing my job right, but I feel like they could have just told me? I would have been more than happy to remedy my mistakes, learning opportunities and whatever. If I've gotten your order wrong somehow on two different occasions and you don't tell me, I can't fix it. Granted I shouldn't have gotten it wrong in the first place.

Back again about my secretary because I am over it. If it was within my power to let her go, she would be long gone. Nobody likes this bitch. She IS that bitch so maybe I ought to go post in that thread too.

She has learned nothing. My entire day is spent reviewing her tasks, correcting the same basic mistakes, and teaching a retard basic fucking English. I no longer enjoy my job. If she's not gone soon, I will be.

Guess who's gone! Neither of us, but there is now an open HR case against this spectacular retard and her sheer incompetence. Other employees approached me to ask if I was having similar issues to their work process. The floodgates have opened.

She is now on a personal improvement plan and will be getting the ax in January if she does not figure her shit out. Based on patterns since her hiring, she is doing a great job kicking her own ass in that exact direction without even trying.

I am not sure of the phrasing for it. She's one of those people who "knows" something more than your expertise. Example: you say you know how to sew. She will respond by saying she owns a textile company to up her own credibility. When you and multiple others can tell at a glance that this bravado does not match her actual output.

I guess I should be grateful considering I'm in a "Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing" situation. But dealing with the day to day and having to clean up her retarded messes despite that is infuriating.

Way back in the day I was a corrections officer and the psych doc who would talk to the inmates was obese and middle aged. One time I politely asked how she was doing (everyone hated her so I felt bad) and I got a 20 minute list about her arthritis, no cartilage in knees, stomache issues, and pretty much every health issue that comes along with being fat. Then I understood why no one talked to her. Nothing in the world worse than the perpetually negative complainer.

Once it was a genderspecial with a live rat on xir(?) shoulder wigging out because we wouldn't give xir a refund over her labubu being too ugly, so she tried to get me to talk to her mom on the phone. I refused because wtf.
Today it was a grown man trying to figure out the name of a character his daughter likes from someone on the phone, he got as far as "Can I give you the phone so-" and I shouted NO so loud that I think I scared the hell out of him. I apologized for being so abrupt and explained it was a store policy due to an "incident" (namely, Live Rat Labubutroon)

At work we got this new Zoomer intern. She's an absolutely insufferable person, no one can stand her. Her most annoying trait is that she never shuts up. As soon as she enters a room, she hijacks any conversation and doesn't let anyone speak anymore. To make it even worse, she has no indoor voice, she constantly shouts. Everyone has noticed and complains about it behind her back, including our boss. However, no one says anything. It's so bad that I tried earplugs for a meeting where she was present and it still was unbearably loud (though I admit I'm extremely sensitive to loud noises).

I wish my boss would say something to her. Her work is poor too (though in typical Zoomer fashion she thinks she's God's gift to our workplace), but my boss argues that he can’t possibly point out these things to her. This is a guy who's constantly boasting about all these fancy modern management courses he's done. If he can’t even tell an employee that they need to fucking integrate into the workplace (and don't shout like an overexcited toddler the whole time), then al, those certifications aren't worth the paper they've been printed on. Seriously, the atmosphere in our department has deteriorated since this intern started and he really needs to do something, ffs.
