the dvd / blu rays are actually a pretty solid thing to thoufh given how media is consumed these days. Not saying Phil had the foresight to understand that or was some film enthusiast by any means. Piracy aside youre kinda fuck if you are a fan of movies these days. Between all the different services and shit. Or the fact most often you just rent something for a few hours or a single watch some god awful but fucking price. Dvds are one of the most solid things he owns in terms of investment entertainment wise. Not saying they are worth anything at all but there is some value in owning physical media in the digital streaming age of movies.

The real crime and phils dumb bits in the dvd ownership is that he no doubt doesnt watch probably hasnt ever. That and he for sure has subscriptions to every major service and watches all shit via streaming id imagine. Hes still stupid in his ownership off them just in differnt reasons.

Phil is occasionally right, but never for the right reasons. Funkos are, of course, gay and retarded and embarrassing, but I'm not sure Phil truly recognizes why when he still is amused by toys and plastic slop 'collectibles'.

He doesn't have any real stance on the matter when he's indistinguishable from the kind of manchild that collects Funko toys, with the only difference being he wants to look better than that. And that's where poems_past is right: Phil needs to grow up and stop doing his Adult-Style Man™ LARPing, but Phil will never do that.

Really, what this is, is an excuse for Phil to say he outlasted another one. The meme is alive! But that's not impressive; most people currently alive will outlast Funko Pops. What it truly is is "another brick in the wall" for Phil, so he can keep reinforcing his skewed sense of reality and the rightness of the path he's on.

Tangentially related: The Wall is Phil's movie. I mean, it's about a delusional lolcow with mommy issues. A lot of movies are about lolcows, but that one, I feel, is closest to what we're seeing Phil do with his life out of fear and hatred for his fellow man, while needing to keep his narcissistic ego intact by any (suitably lazy) means necessary. Watching one of his streams with the album playing, or perhaps Dark Side of the Moon for a TIHYDP, is pretty kino and really brings his misery into sharp relief.

Funny enough, he so badly overpaid for his CT condo that it only recently has appreciated in value. Around the bankruptcy, he listed it up for $72k (a little over half of what he paid) I think but I'm pretty sure he was too lazy to do anything to actually sell it. It's up right now for an asking price of $199k (lol) but it's a dumpy old building in an old boring complex.

Still, like you said, he could have just hired somebody to manage it, get something for it as a sunk investment and hope it eventually appreciates. Also was making so much in the early 2010s that he could have paid it off just with the extra $$ he made for doing nothing.

He has said he isn't going to play it. His excuse is that the ethernet port on his Switch 2 dock is broken so online play will be impossible.

If he doesn’t play it, there will be a Reason like with Ghosts of Yotei and accompanying struggle sessions where he berates the dents/the world about it. We can only hope therefore that someone on the Discord will whale out and we’ll be spared that pain.
