You know who had a problem with junkies that they solved with crackdowns? Eastern europe. Entering 90s former USSR republics (well not Belarus but whatever.) were filled with drugs. But then governments got their shit together and cracked down, hard. They didn’t remove it entirely, of course, but rates dropped down significantly and something like junkies overdosing on the streets of big cities is fucking impossible to imagine
Reminder that this is what Democrats think their cities are like versus Republican cities:

In the original meme, Chad wasn't the "cool guy" to emulate, he was a ridiculous parody of such, and many of the later permutations of the meme still were slightly tongue-in-cheek. Only one person in that comment chain seems to be dimly aware of that fact.

It reminds me very much of the Hot Wheels cartoon and most of them not picking up that the angry helmeted professor guy was the bad guy. Remember when Jason pretended to be a "carbrain" for "comedy" purposes? I bet that had Jason not made very clear that it was supposed to be satire, I really think that most of these people would think he was being 100% serious.

Yeah it needs stuff like:
  • Dominate both the road and the side walk
  • Traffic lights no longer apply
  • Wear a sexy aerodynamic helmet on and off the bike

Nothing gives you more chad vibes than ridding your neckbearded ass on a bicycle you ride only once a week. Only to ride a bus to work for the majority of your 9-5 in an urbanized area, then to come to the reddit thread and complain how to get rid of cars, busses, and gassed powered transportation.

The original meme was the virgin walk was to make people on /r9k/ overly self conscious about how they appear in public while walking, head down listening to music etc.

The joke of the Chad was a ridiculous antithesis of what the virgin walk is as to make a statement, "OK if keeping to yourself while walking is bad, what would the other side look like". So the Chad meme is him wildly swinging his arms around and taking up the entire sidewalk with his legs strided open.

I believe it was the Xavier Renegade Angel vs Rick and Morty meme that caused this shift. I remember when that image was spammed all around /tv/ when season 3 of R&M was airing, then other copycat memes came out, and once those memes hit the mainstream, it was basically over. Virgin Vs Chad is probably the quickest a meme had ever been ruined. What's even sadder is that due to this "the wizard" has been completely forgotten when it was a genuinely funny addition to the meme.

I also just think xavier vs rick and morty makes absolutely no sense as a comparison due to R&M being a show with poopy retard humor which pretends to be intellectual, while xavier is mostly a shitpost with some clever humor here and there. Not to mention the fact that as far as Adult Swim shows go, Space Dandy would have fit the meme 10 times better in every fucking way, namely because the two shows are actually in the same genre, deal with extremely similar premises and Space Dandy is actually better than R&M in every way that R&M fails. Not to mention being one of the most beautifully animated and directed pieces of TV ever produced.

Even if you put in things like "Demands bike lanes, uses main lanes anyway" they still wouldn't get it.

A "tiny beetle-like stride" if I recall.

The comments reiterate what has been said as-nauseum in this thread:
The problem with urbanism being shackled to the modern Left is indeed a major problem. For a while they were pretending it was non-partisan with the "but Chuck Marohn is a conservative!" angle but at some point they went mask off. I'm surprised there isn't a splinter group that realizes that law and order (not just in parking tickets) comes first.

Urbanists don't understand that bike lanes and other "pedestrian improvements" only get passive support by liberals, riding on other bills in blue counties but never actively fought for, and of course when it comes to their own neighborhoods, they'll fight against it.

This is compounded by the fact that due to the echo chamber, they can't form coherent arguments. They don't get into debates, YouTube videos and insults are all they really know. In this thread I've given Hasan Piker credit for defending his views against other people and suggesting that an urbanist will start screaming well before the four hour mark. (The urbanist at least won't do any dog electrocution, at least...that we know of).

No, I think it's a fair comparison. Space Dandy is similar in terms of genre and tone, but it isn't an AS original, and the comparison honestly could be seen as a comparison between the pretentious bullshit of R&M and its fans vs the unabashed absurdist nonsense that defined X:RA.

Basically is. AS co-funded the project and it was one of the first animes to be simulcast with a dub airing at the same time as the japanese version due to how hard they were banking on that show.

Xavier's fans got honestly about as pretentious as the R&Mfags when the meme became popular. Not to mention that R&M wasn't that pretentious on a constant basis (Mainly was pretentious in the "serious moments" where they pretend these cardboard cutouts are actual characters and the braindead retards that watch this shit get unironically invested), it's mostly awful stoner humor with constant pop culture references and poopy doodoo fart humor that'd be too juvenile for the average preschooler. Xavier is also kinda stoner humor-y but there's not much else that really matches here. Xavier has a lot of moments of artistic self-fellation that I'd honestly consider more pretentious than a lot of R&M (Not to say that I dislike Xavier one bit, it's the only american produced AS show to actually make me laugh every episode consistently).

i was unaware Grand Commander Null was in favor of ipad kids and instagram wives.

Honestly there isn't much wrong with American trucks being big, the biggest issue is how tall they are and the dogshit space utilization (especially in the bed). Taller the truck, the harder it is to put things in the bed, which is very often shallower than it needs to be to accommodate an overly flexing, fatigueable frame because every work truck needs crazy off-roader points now for some reason. I'm not even talking about ground clearance, all I'm saying is that the hoods shouldn't be as tall, the cab should be lower (more car like seating position, which wouldn't be more uncomfortable - see full size ameriboats from mid-1950s to mid-1990s) and the bed should be more practical.

There's nothing wrong with station wagons either but boomers took everything for fucking granted and threw them away for minivans which fell out of favor within 30 years so now wagons are the exclusive vehicle of wannabe european gentrifying hipster faggots and none of us would be caught dead in one.

The thing about the meme in general is that like with the "Chad Cyclist" is that whatever exaggeration in the Chad column is that midwits just accept it 100% and we see that here too. The biggest crime with the Rick vs. Xavier meme is that Xavier's knees weren't inverted.

I don't think that it was meant to be taken 100% seriously. I would worry more about Null using every correspondence to be some flavor of a joke or a shitpost (which Null had said about Lowtax) rather than proof positive that Null being "in favor of iPad kids or Instagram wives". But what do I know?

The world went to shit because not enough male nerds called out the parasites that invaded their communities.
Urbanism (formerly "New Urbanism" back in the day) has never been a "good" fandom where it wasn't populated by crazies.

Also, besides the commie winning in New York, were there just no urbanist things on the ballots in cities anywhere, or were they all defeated and swept under the rug? I would've expected some crowing about it if there was.

There were some. Charlotte passed a transit funding referendum, though I suspect a lot of the votes came from people wanting the road funding, not realizing that urbanists will divert it to road diets and bus and bike lanes (since they're technically "roads"):
While the money is referred to in shorthand as “road money,” it doesn’t actually have to be spent on building or expanding roads with more lanes for cars. Under the legislation, the municipalities can use it for “costs associated with financing, constructing, operating, or maintaining roadway systems.”

The law says the money can be spent on: streetscapes and landscaping, pedestrian facilities, bicycle facilities, parking lots, curbs, gutters, storm drainage, bridges, overpasses, grade crossings, street lighting and traffic control devices; utility relocations, publicly accessible electric vehicle charging infrastructure [and several other uses].
It's also 1 PP increase in the sales tax; so much for "paying your fair share":

The campaign was also heavily pushed by Big Real Estate according the Charlotte's local news.
Once again, everything a leftist accuses you of is a confession.

NYC also passed a bunch of urbanist "housing affordability" propositions that will end up accomplishing nothing.

I'm sure other cities passed stuff as well.

Ostatnio edytowane:
Bugbrains love when I say I want more transit and then flip their shit when I say I want basketball people and asian people banned from driving cars and have them use segregated trains and busses. I don't know why they get so mad, it would allow minorities to not have to buy cars and would make the roads much safer for cyclists and pedestrians.

I'd say maybe a little half and half. Sometimes it's possible to convey somethings that you actually believe but also have a flair of facetious exaggeration as a joke to play it up for effect.

I think it makes it fun, which is a contrast to f-cars/urbanists taking their movement Uber serious all the time. Because as you know, there's no fun allowed, unless it's in the approved way. Meaning there is to be no mention of public transit or bikes in a slightly negative light.

if i got a dollar for every time I saw a cyclist breaking a traffic law I could buy a cabin in the middle of the ozarks and fuck off there forever
These people call themselves le' gigachad and then proceed to be completely fucking clueless on the road and piss off everyone around them

Null's half shitposting poses a good point—Europeans don't understand American roadtripping. Now I've never been to Europe but traveling in a tiny Euro car on squiggly pre-WWII roads with nary a QuikTrip or Buc-ee's in sight doesn't sound fun.

My mother recently was in France and has told of some of the rather...inadequate...restroom facilities out there.
As a man you can just pull over on a side road and take a piss out in nature like God intended.
