The probationary period is a given where media uploads are required to be disallowed. There’s no point trying a captcha that will work; they will always be defeated. You’ll need a set of volunteers who aren’t mods but have the singular purpose of reviewing new user accounts that have passed the probation period and have to approve their first “x” number of Media uploads. The person can’t pass probation until that user deems them not a problem. In other words; what you do but share the pain around. Only accounts that have subscribed to your fees are allowed to act in this capacity.

People on this forum because the effort it would take this asshole to go through all the above steps makes it almost wholly prohibitive. The exchange to these users is a badge of contribution.

As with any other forum, there would surely be trustable, responsible and/or reliable members who have a long history with the site, given what its done and does, but numbers would logically help in this kind of situation.

Id personally think that, should members want to apply for a position like that, they should have a certain amount of time registered to the forum, have a reliable track record, and be voted in by the registered community (an extra security measure for that would be limiting the votes to members who have been around for a certain time as well, just to be on the safe side)

it’s not that easy, unfortunately. Assuming our great leader even knows where this raging pedo lives (which I doubt, if he’s smart enough to launch large scale attacks he definitely protects his actual IP/location), there’s no guarantee the local PDs would take any anonymous tip seriously. There’s no easy way to definitely prove who is behind the mass quantity of profiles with VPN involved.

I think the logic is obvious, it works. Clearly the guy doing this isn't worried about legal consequences, and has escaped them for some time now, so all the blowback falls onto his target. There is no legal way to host CSAM so it has to be taken down as quickly as possible, but if a guy can just make 1500 new accounts a day and spam it he quickly overpowers the Jannies who have to sweep it up. Sure, if he ever gets caught he's (hopefully) going to prison forever, but until then all he has to do is spam the most illegal shit possible without any limits and fuck everyone over.

Really I see no way to prevent this outside of keeping registration closed or putting a activity lock on uploading media.
